Halloween is over and it’s time for Christmas! I'm not a big fan of Thanksgiving so Christmas is the big holiday I always look forward to. Don’t get me wrong Thanksgiving is great and I like the idea of how it all originated but I don’t like turkey that much so shoving my face with it isn't appealing.
Christmas on the other hand, is the perfect holiday. Yes, I love getting gifts, but not as much as I like being able to stay home and curl up in a blanket with hot chocolate. Even as a 20-year-old I still find it incredibly hard to fall asleep on Christmas Eve. I’m just so excited to go downstairs and see what new things Santa brought. Yes, I still believe in the “magic” of Santa because I have younger siblings. I think that’s why Christmas is so fun still because I still get to act like a little kid in believing that Santa is actually coming on his reindeer to give presents to all the good little boys and girls.
The spirit of Christmas is also unbelievable. Everyone seems to be so happy and festive and all the lights and decorations are so cute. My favorite part about Christmas time is going to the Columbus Zoo for their Wildlights event. They put up a bunch of lights and Santa Clause is there along with his wife. You can decorate cookies and drink hot chocolate while seeing animals. I love the zoo and I love going each year with my family. It always seems to get me excited about Christmas and winter.
Winter is my favorite time of the year. Everything looks so pretty when the snow hits the ground. I love just being able to stay inside and relax under blankets, watching sappy romance movies. I used to love going outside as a child to make snow angels and snowmen.
I can’t wait for snow to hit the ground and to wear winter boots and scarves every day. As much as I love Kent State though, I am not ready for another Kent winter so hopefully, it doesn’t get too bad before I leave for Italy next semester. Last year I was very unprepared for the cold wind and all the ice on the sidewalks. I didn’t even want to leave my room to go get food it was that cold.
So yes even though I am looking forward to Christmas I will not be playing Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. I do have a Christmas tree in my room but that's only because I never took it down from last year so it’s all okay to be festive all year round!
