The Packers are playing on “stolen time," there’s no doubting that. The team simply should not have won the last seven games considering the many injuries and ailments that have affected this team. Yet, they find themselves in the NFC Divisional Round, facing off against the Dallas Cowboys. Many argue that if the team manages to pull off a win against the 13-3 Cowboys, then all bets are off. I agree, and here’s why.
The Cowboys are a team that had an amazing regular season. Finishing with only three losses was no small feat, especially considering that the team had to start rookie QB Dak Prescott, a decision that surely would not have happened had Tony Romo not suffered a brutal spinal injury during the preseason. Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, a rookie out of Ohio State University, have essentially led this team to success. They have most things going in their favor as they prepare to take on the Packers on Sunday. But what they lack is experience. Aaron Rodgers has been in 15 playoff games in his career, winning nine of them. Dak Prescott has never been in a playoff game, and the pressure of his team and the fans weighs on him. Combining that with the fact that the Packers have nothing to lose going into this game, the Packers chances are looking slightly better.
If they end up beating the Cowboys, then the Packers get to fly to Atlanta and play the Falcons. While the Packers ended up losing to the Falcons earlier in the season, it was a close loss with an extremely depleted roster. With a slightly more healthy roster and a confident Aaron Rodgers, the Packers would have a decent chance to upset the number two seed. Not to mention with the momentum that the team would have as a result of the upset, the Falcons would have a very hard time standing in the way of the Pack.
Obviously, for the Packers, the idea is to take the season one game at a time. But looking ahead, if they can make it past Dallas then all bets are off. All bets to Run The Table.
