Dear Future Self,
I hope in the next couple of months and years to come, that you learn to always try to be better than yourself. I hope that you finally understand what you're worth and I hope that you make note of the people who love you. I hope that you finally learned that it is best to get rid of the toxic people in your life. They will only bring you down. I hope you learn that the boy you loved a couple of years ago is not the same boy he is now. I hope you try to give him another chance if he wanders back into your life. I hope you know that you always have made your grandparents proud and your parents prouder. I hope that you and your brother are the best friends that you guys were when you were teenagers and I hope you know he will always protect you. I hope you have that dream job you always wanted and I hope you're not living in a closet-sized apartment in New York City. You're better than that small room anyway and always will be. I hope that your feet have touched the beaches of Bali, the streets of Moscow and the Swiss Alps. I hope that you learn something from everyone that you meet and every place that you go. I hope that your bank account finally has 2 or 3 commas in between numbers and I hope you learned how to relax with your spending problem.
I hope you started reading again and I hope your writing makes it onto the front page of the New York Times. I hope you realized that not everyone will agree with you and it is in your best interest to keep your mouth shut when necessary. I hope that you love your job and you never get annoyed when you have to wake up every day to go. I hope that your childhood best friends are still your best friends and I hope that their future plans work out for them as well. I hope you never forget the memories you made in college with your three best friends and I hope they bring up your most embarrassing moments at your wedding. I hope that you find a man who will text you asking about your day, because he hopes it was wonderful. I hope he sends you flowers just because he wants to. I hope that he will accept you at your worst, because you and I both know that your worst is like a natural disaster. I hope that you two travel together and I hope you have those three kids you always wanted. I hope you get to live in London for a long time; it has been your dream since 2009. Make it happen. I hope you buy your dad that sports car you promised you'd get him. He's been wanting it since you were 16. I hope you call your mom every day, she loves to talk to you even when you just need to ask her a question. I hope that you never give up on your dreams, you've always been a person to make sure you get what you want. I hope you make it happen for yourself. Lastly, I hope that you're happy and I hope you wake up every morning knowing that you're doing just fine.
