As a super busy person, sometimes it's hard to add exercising into my life. I know fitness is vital to a happy, healthy life; so I found ways to make it therapeutic, social, and enjoyable!
1. Volleyball
I played varsity in high school, so I love it, and spiking at the wall helps me release my anger. This is very therapeutic for clusters of anger such as myself. Whenever I feel angry and full of stress, I go to my school's recreational center and make a wall hate me.
2. Yoga Class
Yoga for beginners is held in our campus' recreational center. It's a great way to unwind, but you should know that you're going to be sore the next day! This is also a very therapeutic exercise because yoga not only focuses on fitness, but on mental awareness and peace of heart.
3. Tree Climbing
I climb trees when I'm in distress for some unknown reason; good thing I'm getting a work out while I climb my worries away! Since I have to hoist myself up to branches, climbing trees takes a lot of abdominal and upper-arm strength!
4. Belly Dancing Class
Do your hips lie? Find out in a belly dancing class near you.
5. Water Aerobics Class
Monday through Thursday there is a water aerobics class held at my university's indoor pool! I've been several times before and it definitely gives a workout! (Especially when you're tiny like me and have to try extra hard to stay under water) My friends and I bathing-suit up after our last class and get in the water!
6. The Elliptical- My best friend and I do "Mom Cardio"
I wrote about it on my personal blog here: My “Mom Cardio” Workout (+Podcasts to Listen to While Working out)Plus, you can be like DJ Khaled and have your own "Elliptical Talk"! I like to listen to Podcasts while I'm on the elliptical because if I'm bored and trying to work out, I stop.
7. Walk Around the Track
I walk around the track every so often with my best friend and we chat about life. We are getting the work out we need for our bodies and the venting we need for our minds!
8. Walk Around My Dorm Hall
"Hall" as in the whole building! I talk on the phone with my family while I do this. It's a double whammy- return those phone calls and get a low-impact workout.
9. Going Hiking
...in our local national park! This one is particularly great because I get to be immersed in nature instead of being stuck on campus.
10. Rock Climbing on Campus
It's like indoor tree climbing; It takes a lot of upper-arm strength and you can't have a fear of heights.
11. Roughhouse with your Siblings
(Nicely of course) Get them back for taking your headphones.
12. Run Around with Your Dog
It makes them happy and wears you out!
13. Join an Intramural Sport
Relive your high school glory days without the commitment of a University team. My university offers volleyball, basketball, soccer, rugby, baseball, tennis, power-lifting, boxing, and ultimate frisbee.
14. Use the Machines and Free Weights in the Recreational Center
Do you even lift, bro? Also, do not be afraid to ask someone if you are using equipment in the correct way- you could hurt yourself if you use it wrong!
Have fun, don't break anything, and use your tuition fees.
