Odell Beckham Junior took the NFL by storm. The 12th pick in the draft selected by the New York Giants. This pick was easily a great one seeing how Odell has been playing for the past two seasons. Odell shined at LSU being a very versatile player overall catching passes and returning kickoffs. Odell is very talented and athletic. OBJ even has other skills in other sports like soccer and basketball. His family is very athletic and were involved in sports as well. His father was a former LSU running back and his mother was an All-American sprinter. He went down his parent's path and went to LSU. Being only 23-years-old currently, he has room to grow into an even better player. In my opinion, Odell Beckham Jr. is only going to continue to improve and he will become one of the greatest receivers to ever play the game of football.
Whether you love or hate him, he is in my view currently a top 15 receiver in the NFL. Beckham is a special player being able to rip the ball out of the air from anywhere. Odell is unlike any player seen in the NFL. He is able to catch the ball easily with just one hand, which is very impressive and difficult to do. Odell has huge, strong hands that are able to help him grasp the ball. Not many receivers can do what he can catching the ball with one hand. Odell is just 5 foot 11 inches weighing approximately 198 pounds, although it does not hinder his ability to catch the ball or see. He is both quick and agile, as well as being explosive and being very excellent at running routes. He is dangerous in open field and he can move quickly in any direction causing defenders to miss or not be able to tackle him. Odell is shifty and he can easily cause you to miss him. OBJ has incredible leaping ability and can leap high to catch the ball wherever it is thrown in his direction. His route running causes defenders to lose track of where he is going. Overall, Odell Beckham Jr. is a high offensive threat where it can be very hard to cover him.
The one spectacular catch he had against the Dallas Cowboys has been said to have put him on the map with popularity and fame. That one catch where he snatched the ball with one hand down and caught it. It was the catch of the year and everyone knew about it, the impact of the play was heard around the world. It gave him the award for play of the year as well. OBJ has been seen to make similar catches like this that have been caught but out of bounds or almost caught. For only being in the NFL for a little over 2 years he has already accumulated 3,336 yards and 28 touchdowns. Last year he had 1,450 yards and 13 touchdowns. The year before that he had 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. In 2014, he won the award for offensive rookie of the year. From the look at his stats he has only continued to get better. This 2016 season alone he already has 581 yards and we are not even halfway done with the season yet. Aside from this, what also makes Odell great is that he does not get injured or miss any significant amount of games. The only times he has missed games is because of suspension due to his actions on the field. The only issue that needs to be fixed now for the Giants is the offensive line. If the line is able to be fixed or improved, the Giants could be a threat to all other teams and even win a title. I have been a Giants fan since a young age watching all the games every football Sunday. Watching television now of Odell Beckham Jr. playing on the field; I can see the extraordinary talent that he possesses.
Odell is also a morally, good, person. Beckham prides wearing his red and blue uniform and has been seen to put the team on his back. He greatly gives his credit to God and knows that hard work is how he made it this far. Additionally, he spreads positive messages that you can do whatever you want to if you work hard and have some talent. People criticized him for being small and short, but he did not let that stop him. People said he was not strong enough, but he got stronger and proved others wrong. Beckham certainly had to practice catching with one hand an abundance of times to be able to get it down. In life, we have to fall or fail in order to succeed and have success. We fall to get back up and try again. We must list goals and push to achieve them. Beckham loves football and he has a strong passion for the game. OBJ has heart. It is wrong to criticize him for his certain antics due to his great passion for the game. At times it has gotten out of hand, but you can understand him. If he is able to control his passion better at times, he would be fine. That really is his only weakness in at times letting people anger him and annoy him to do something dumb. Basically, getting in his head. Odell will continue down his path to greatness and he will become a legend.
