In light of an upcoming family vacation I thought I’d prepare a list of essentials to ensure a perfect vacation. Whether it’s a family vacation to the beach, a road trip with friends, or a self-getaway, here are the nine things you will want to bring with you:
1. Sunscreen and aloe
I know, you “don’t even get burnt.” and you’re just “working on your color.” But really, do yourself a favor and not only pack sunscreen, but apply it as needed. Your trip will be much more enjoyable if you’re not spending it applying the aloe you packed just in case.
2. Headphones
Whether it’s to enjoy your favorite music on the beach, or to block out your brother and sister fighting about who got the bigger bed, headphones are a must and you’ll be sorry if you forget them.
3. Snacks
Bring on the popcorn, chips and other favorites. It's vacation, which means it’s time to let loose and relax, and of course, eat what makes you happy.
4. A backpack
No, do not bring your favorite purse to vacation. Trade it in for an on-the-go back pack that will house everything you need for the day; this will be especially helpful if your vacation includes a lot of daily activity.
5. Sunglasses
Even if you plan on being under an umbrella, it’s still summer and the sun can do more damage to your eyes than you would think. Practical and stylish is the way to go.
6. Comfortable shoes
Because no one wants to hear you complain that your feet hurt. Sandals for the beach, and sneakers for just about anything else.
7. A way to document
You’ll want to bring your camera, or if you plan on using your phone to take pictures make sure you have a decent amount of storage so you can take as many pictures and videos as you want. It’s a vacation and you’ll want these memories documented down the road.
8. You’re “daring” side
Being that you’re on vacation, even if you’re having the time of your life, there is still a part of you that may feel a little bit homesick and out of your comfort zone. It’s important to be adventurous and willing to try something new.
9. A clear head
Leave all of the drama and stress about work behind and just focus on relaxing and enjoying yourself. Positive vibes only or you’re off the invite list for next year.
Wherever it is you’re going – have fun!
