The ENFP Personality Goes To College

Meyers-Briggs doesn't lie

The ENFP Personality Goes To College

Until I got to college, specifically my first-semester psychology class, I had never once thought about taking any actual personality test. I am the self proclaimed queen of useless quizzes such as "what kind of candy are you? What book are you based on your personality?" When I got into my class I realized I could benefit greatly from taking a personality test just by listening to the descriptions of each of the personalities. After taking the Meyers-Briggs Personality Test, I discovered I was categorized as an extraversion, intuition, feeling, perception, or an ENFP. With that being said, this article is for my fellow ENFP's out there.

According to the numbers, only 7% of the world's people are ENFP's. We are described as "the campaigner", and enjoy the emotional and social long term connections we make with people, versus the pleasure and excitement of one single moment of life. We see life as one big puzzle where everything has a connection. We often find ourselves having an energy that, whether we always like it or not, brings us into the limelight and draws in attention. ENFP people rely heavily on intuition which, if you match that with natural female intuition you better watch out!

So what does this mean as a college student? More than likely you are the one with the really loud or outgoing friends. At the same time you probably work really hard to be friends with the people who are more reserved than you, and often times bring them out of their shell. Of course college is college and you might not stay friends with the same people forever, and because ENFP's put a lot of faith in friendships it's often a heavy shock when friendships fall apart.

What about the actual part of college? ENFP'c could win a gold medal for procrastination. Come on guys, if you're an ENFP you've probably started writing a paper the day before it's due, and still done nothing hours later, simply because you've found five hundred other things you "needed" to do, like a load of laundry, catch up on the latest episode of "Grey's Anatomy" you missed last week, or planned your imaginary wedding. With that in mind, when you do turn in a paper, chances are it is one of the best papers ever because of our awesome writing and communication skills. We generate great work when we put our heads down and focus!

Relationships? ENFP's are some of the most devoted people for relationships out there. We see life as a big adventure that we want to share with our significant others. We take looking for relationships seriously, so it may appear that a lot of us remain single for awhile because of the standards we have set for ourselves. With dating, some people might say we are old-fashioned simply because of how seriously we take the affection part of these relationships we are building. Long distance relationships aren't that tough for us, simply because we see them as a way to show our commitment to our significant other.

Although we have vibrant personalities, our weaknesses can also be problematic in college. For example, we get stressed easily so we might stress over small things. With this comes extreme overthinking and then almost exploding because of how emotional we are. We may not show it because we are so independent, but when you vent to someone about what you are feeling, things seem to all of a sudden be right with the world.

So if you are an ENFP and reading this article, I hope the application to your life was spot on, and if you are dating an ENFP I hope this helped you see into the life of an ENFP. If either of these isn't accurate, I hope I at least persuaded you to go take your own personality test!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
