We can all agree that the football season this year has been an absolute DREAM thus far.. but let's not forget last season. A season so hyped up with a new coach, a new five star quarterback, and of course the return of Nick Chubb. I was a freshman and couldn't wait to be in Sanford Stadium cheering on my dawgs for the first time as a student.
The first win came in the Georgia Dome against North Carolina followed by the first game back in Sanford Stadium against Nicholls State, winning by a much closer than expected margin. Then, the Dawgs traveled to Missouri to win by an even closer margin, 28-27. Then came Ole Miss...
With an embarrassing loss to Ole Miss, UGA's season became a season of ups and downs, with upsetting, unexpected losses and exciting, encouraging wins. The Dawgs were, however, able to pull out a victory against TCU in the 2016 AutoZone Liberty Bowl to end the season.
With speculation of some key players of UGA's 2016 roster moving on to the NFL, the fate of UGA's 2017 football season hung in the balance...
But to Bulldog Nation's merriment, the majority of these players chose to stay for their senior seasons, stating that they knew this team could do something special.. and, man they were right.
Picking up another star quarterback, and Coach Kirby Smart truly settling in to his position as Head Coach, Georgia football was coming back; and this season it was coming back better and more determined than before.
During the 2017 season, the Georgia Bulldogs have steamrolled past the majority of their opponents, and proven themselves equipped to handle tough situations as well. The defense has been outstanding, and the offense... well you've seen what Fromm, Chubb, Michel, Hardman, Godwin and... i'll stop there you get the point. But you've seen what they can do!
For the first time since 2008, the Bulldogs claimed the #1 spot in the nation for a period of time and for the first time since 2012 are the SEC East Champions. So regardless of the outcome of the rest of the season, this team has made amazing leaps and bounds towards greatest and I only expect this to continue. But, let's not forget the hard work and determination it took to get here and the hard work and determination it will continue to take to stay at this level.
But my goodness, I want to see my Dawgs take Auburn, take Kentucky, and I want to see them take Alabama and whoever may stand in our way! It is without a doubt, most certainly, 500% time to ATTACK THE DAY!
