Life is not fair. This is a cliché phrase that everyone has heard before. The reality is that there is so much truth behind the phrase. Look back on your life and think about all the time's life has knocked you down and you never thought you could recover from the blow. Whether it be a death in the family, a bad break up, being physically hurt etc. Some of these occurrences seem impossible to overcome. It simply is not fair.

We always wonder why we always are faced with such tough trials in life. It doesn't seem right the way life plays it tricks on all of us. But those people who face these toughest of trials are molded into something remarkable if they can overcome them.

The difficult times are only temporary for all of us and that is why it is important to understand that our lives all have a particular path we are meant to follow. For some, the path is a lot more difficult to traverse through than others. These people who face the toughest trials should be used as examples for the world but too often we neglect and reject these examples placed in front of us. We assume some things can never happen to us, but it is wrong to have that mindset. We must learn from others, in order to keep aligned on our own path. Learning from our own pain and struggles is key as well in becoming our best self.

All people can be made into something remarkable because our lives are made of choices that face us at every turn. It is impossible to make the correct decision at every turn but the decisions become easier as life progresses as long as you remember the punches you have already taken. It is all a mindset. Optimism, dedication, passion, patience are just a few characteristics that go into being what you are supposed to become.

Yes, we are all meant to be something in particular. That may be a hard truth to swallow but it is true. Our paths have been laid out for us already. That is why it is paramount to never settle for less and to never let tough times keep you down because the longer you stay down the more strenuous your path becomes.

There is a reason life is not fair. We are meant to spread our wisdom and experiences to others who may need guidance. No matter who you are, you can assist someone else in need who may or may not be going through something very similar to what you have overcome. Our personal battles tear us down but no matter what you are not the only one who has gone through the same battle. No one's life is fair. The sooner that is taken to heart the sooner we will all become stronger, better and wiser people in this life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
