It Is Time To Come Together as a Nation

Now is the time for unity. A week ago, Donald Trump was elected as the next POTUS, and that's had a huge impact across the country. Republicans celebrated, Democrats cried, liberal snowflakes rioted on campuses. Horrible things have been said by both sides. Horrible acts have been committed by both sides.

It's time to move forward. It's time to stop calling people racists, sexists, bigots, homophobes. It's time to stop blaming everyone else for Hillary Clinton losing. It's time to stop complaining about the Electoral College. It's time to stop being so full of yourselves that you are unable to work together and MOVE ON. This election is not the end of the world, it's not even close. This election probably isn't the most important election to ever happen. There will be another, and another after that, and another after that. If you are unhappy with the results of this election, look to your candidate and blame her for not being able to convince people to vote for her. But that is for next election cycle.

What is important now, is that we learn how to get along. The last eight years has divided this country, and this election was just the icing on the cake. I've been blocked by countless people for refusing to support one candidate or the other. My vote was my vote, and one side specifically could not come to terms with that.

Now I'm going to address each side individually.

Liberals, work with us. Stop calling us ridiculous names just because a large number of us held our noses and voted for Trump. While there are few things we have in common, we can still put aside our differences and work together. The majority of conservatives don't see you as enemies yet, and there is still time to reverse the damage you have done to relations with the conservative side of the aisle. Please take the opportunity and be willing to work together, it's the only way we can move forward in any way.

Conservatives, be the bigger men. For years we've put up with being called all sorts of labels and insults, and we've always been better. Don't sink to the level of disgruntled liberals by calling them what they call us. Just as they need to be willing to work with us, we must be willing to work with them. Yes, our world views are different, our values are vastly different, and our end goals are different. What we must do is take everything issue by issue going forward, and toss aside our partisanship, and they must do the same.

Good CAN come of these next four years, but only if both sides are willing to work with one another in order to ensure that happens.

Grow up America.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
