Recently, I have begun the journey of a low-carb, low-sugar lifestyle in order to get myself healthy and in-shape. As a dancer, having a healthy diet and exercising regularly is key to being able to jump higher and turn faster. Along with this, I have discovered what workouts are good for me and I’d like to let you in on my secrets.
Everyone’s different when it comes to working out, but maybe that’s why some people are so opposed to it. If lifting super heavy weights and doing 100 pushups isn’t your thing, then naturally you won’t workout as often as you’d like. Here are some different categories of exercising you might fit into:
The “Classic”
This workout is typically for people who work out 0-3 times a week for a shorter amount of time. If you are super busy but want so badly to exercise every day, this is for you (and it doesn’t even require a gym). Try going on a walk or slow jog every other night, and then when you come home stretch your calves against a wall and definitely your arms, neck and legs. Stretching is super important and often gets looked over, but it is especially essential for when you get older and your joints aren’t as bendy. If you don’t workout often, doing a small exercise daily or every other day can change your lifestyle.
The “I Thought Yoga Was Going To Be Easy”
For those of you who want a little bit more of a kicker, going to classes such as Yoga, Hot Yoga, Ballet Barre, Flywheel (or Spin Classes), or Zumba is definitely good for you. Every time you walk out of a class, you feel like you got a solid workout in, along with improvements in flexibility. I’ve taken most of these classes and they’re always such a blast, that I forget I’m working out! Fairly inexpensive as well, you can go to classes like these 1-2 times a week and burn as many calories as in a long workout with a trainer.
The “Wait, Kickboxing Isn’t Only For Victoria’s Secret Models?”
Kickboxing has made a recent comeback in Johns Creek, and it’s probably one of the BEST and most intense workouts I have ever experienced. Definitely for those of you who need a high-intensity workout to burn fat quickly. On a budget? No problem, there are countless Groupons and regular coupons for Kickboxing clubs all over the Atlanta-Johns Creek-Alpharetta-Roswell area.
The “I Just Want To Go To The Gym”
For my friends out there who hate the endless random classes and weird ways to workout, just go to the gym! Finding a workout for you isn’t hard with YouTube and Pinterest right at your hand (Yes, Pinterest is an amazing workout-creator). Doing a simple ab-workout after running two miles on the treadmill is a great workout to do every day and something you can do at home as well! If you continue this daily, and gradually increase the interval of the exercise you will certainly see a difference quickly.
No matter what kind of workout you choose, make sure to always warm-up and cool-down with nice, easy stretches to prevent injury and tight muscles. Contrary to popular belief, working out can actually be fun. And trust me, you feel SO much better after exercising, it motivates you to keep eating healthy, and since it releases an insane amount of endorphins you feel much happier and ready for the day after working out. Try it, and a difference in your appearance and your mood will arrive.
