Dear Dad,
Father’s Day is coming up fast and I thought it would be fitting to take a few moments to truly thank you for everything that you do for me. Although we have moments where we don’t see eye to eye, like every child with their parents, you always do what you can to help me and I am forever grateful.
I see so much of myself in you: your humor, your kindness, your love for family and friends, the list goes on. What I see most is that you put meaning into your actions when it comes to your loved ones. You don’t just say “I love you," you show it. This could be by helping fix a broken heater or mowing someone’s lawn for them. You care deeply for those you love and it shows every day.
There have been countless times where I have personally been the recipient of the love and care you give through the actions you execute. In September of 2015, I was involved in a car accident, in which I was rear-ended on the highway going back to school. Immediately I called you, and within minutes, you were on the scene to help me in every way you could. You helped me figure out what to do about insurance and assured me everything would be OK, which meant so much to me. You even went out of your way to find me a replacement car after we found out my car was totaled from the accident, which you were in no way obligated to do so.
After we found out Mom was diagnosed with Cancer in May of 2015, you were there for me and Mom. You took care of us and persevered in the eyes of this horrible time in our lives. I remember you telling me that even though we were not dealt something good in life that we would get through it. I always remember that. You have a tough exterior but in reality, you are a teddy bear who will be there for comfort in times of need.
There’s never a day that goes by where I am not thankful for everything you do for me. You work hard so I can go to school and have the best life possible. It is not lost on me that I have you to thank for everything good in my life because without your hard work and determination, I would not be where I am or who I am.
I don’t nearly say thank you enough, but I hope this makes up for that. Thank you for being the best dad a daughter could ask for and I hope you know I am grateful for the life you and Mom have provided me. Thank you for putting up with me when we don’t agree on things because when we do, it’s something really great.
I love you, Dad. Thank you for everything.
Love,
Your loving Daughter
