To my wonderful teacher,
Thank you so much for being who you are. Thank you for your guidance, your many helpful lessons, your hilarious humor, and especially your unconditional love and compassion for both your students and also everyone around you. Thank you for being more than just another teacher for me. Thank you for being my other adult during one of the hardest times in my life. Thank you for letting your classroom serve as my home away from home.
Everyday you came into class with high hopes of changing someone's life for the better. But I don't think you even realize how much of an impact you left on some or maybe all of us. I am a completely different person now that I have left your classroom from when I first walked in three whole years ago. We are getting close to hitting the two year mark from when I left your class. Since then, through everything that I have experienced, I can hear your voice in the back of my head. Telling me something over and over and over again that I definitely need to hear.
Your bright light and humor that you brought with every lesson, your personal care that you have for every student left a lasting impression on me that no other teacher has been able to do or even be close to doing for me, in all my 19 years of living. You were patient. You were kind. You were a friend. Last but not least, even now after I left, you continue to be all that for me, with a little more of the friend side rather than educator. You taught me so much more than the material. You taught me about life, struggles, pain, gratefulness, value, and self worth. You taught me that I was not, and never had to be just another statistic. You beat the odds in your life and so can I. Everyday I continue to look up to you as inspiration. Thank you for never giving up not only on me and everyone else, but on yourself. Your life lays the perfect example of overcoming adversity and coming out triumphant on the other side. Thank you for being you. Thank you for making the decision to become a teacher. Thank you for making the decision to teach at Judson High School in Converse, TX. Thank you for deciding to teach communications and journalism. Understand that if you didn't change anyone else's life, you surely changed mine in ways you could never imagine. Regardless of your religious beliefs or what anyone has ever told you, I want you to know that you are a crystal clear reflection of God's generous heart. PJ Cabrera, thank you.
Love,
A very thankful student
