To my coaches:
Thank you. It's easy to measure the impact of friends and family, but the impact of coaches are often overlooked. No matter the sport of the of the players, coaches have the ability to have an immeasurable impact on an athlete's life. A coach can be many things: a friend, a role model, a teacher.
For me, I think a coach has the ability to either make or break a sport for you. With that being said, of course a bad coach can ruin a sport for you, but that also means that a great coach has the capacity to help you fall in love with a sport.
I was fortunate enough to have some of the best coaches right when I started playing my sport. For that reason, I fell in love with the sport. My coaches passion and patience modeled me in the athlete I always wanted to be.
I just want to thank all my coaches. You have been patient with me, as I struggled to acquire each new skill; stubborn in my habits. You pushed me to do try my hardest every time I stepped onto the field. You invested not only your time, but your energy into helping me grow. You helped me build my confidence; celebrating my victories and extending a helping hand when needed.
Coaches deserve to be celebrated and appreciated, their quiet contributions build us into the athletes and people we are today. From little league, to travel, to high school, each coach has a purpose.
This is a "thank you" to all the coaches. You are appreciated in more ways than you'll ever be aware of. Your dedication, commitment, patience and guidance is treasured and will continue to impact us forever.
Love,
Your players
