Thank Goodness for Sisters

Sisters come in all forms whether they are your biological, step or sorority. Having a sister is a crazy experience filled with memories along with many things you do not tell your parents. A sister is the first person to know when you are down and but is also the first one to know what aggravates you the most. Many of us most likely have pictures together with those matching outfits with your hands around each other complaining about mom taking the picture to slow that that Polaroid camera. But whether you were on non speaking terms or chatting up a storm your sister has been with you through the ups and the downs. My mom always said that friends will come and go but your sister will always be their from the beginning to the end. Here are several reasons why your sister is your best friend for life;

Your closet is her closet. Whether you life it or not there will be someone who picks through your closet for that comfy sweatshirt or semi new dress. We have all experienced coming home and you hear the quick footsteps coming out of your room with a sudden door slam as she hides the evidence. The reality of the case is that you will get it back eventually since she lives right down the hall from you. And let's be real you never went to your mom about it since you would hear the same lecture about how your parents money purchased that top and technically they own it along its everything else you use.

You bond over the things that your parents dislike. I don't know about you but there is nothing more satisfying than doing something wild or being interested about things that your parents are not fond about. Whether that is tattoos, late night adventures, leaving dishes in the sink just for fun and the list goes on. Having a sister to share those weird things is like having a sidekick. You know that someone will always be there to back you up or potentially join in.

No friends no problem. From play dates to sleep over you both were a package deal. When your friend cancels on you last minute for that movie night sleepover of course you were bummed but you also had sister who bought out that princess sleeping bag and watched that Disney Orignal movie along side of you. Those are the memories that will last a lifetime even if you stayed up way past your bed time and were a crab ass the next day.

You have someone who will always be sincere. She will tell you if she did not like your first boyfriend, or that you should waste your money on that skirt. Having a sister who gives you advice that is honest and sincere is truly a blessing. Sometimes friends and even parents will sugar coat certain topics or not want to hurt your feelings. Well you can always rely on your own flesh and blood to say that you need to learn how to straighten your hair better or that you walk like a baby giraffe in heels.

The differences you have bring you closer. Many sisters have different goals in their lives which can be total opposites. Nobody said that both of you had to be doctors or teachers. When sisters choose to take different paths in their lives that not only makes them unique but brings them closer together. You are able to bring different conversations and experiences to your family circle which deepens your friendship because you are always rooting for the other no matter what.

So if you get in a petty fight over who ate the last granola bar or that you guys go without speaking for a mere 45 minutes. Just know you have a best friend that always has you back. Send a text to your sister, go on a late night ride for ice cream or steal some clothing out of her closet. You know that she will still love you no matter what.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
