Thank God I Have A Few More Years Until I Graduate

It seems like just yesterday I was moving into my freshman year dorm and going through 1787 August Orientation. As the end of my freshman year approaches with 3 weeks left to spare, I am thanking God that I have a few more years till I graduate.

I know that I have so much more learn and grow.

Yes, we continually learn and grow throughout our whole lives, but I have realized that college is a time where we really find ourselves. In college, we are forced out of the towns that many of us grew up in, and introduced to more diverse people who come from all over with their own stories and experiences. It's made me a more open-minded person and opened my eyes to all the different challenges people experience. In just this past year, I have grown so much as a person and slowly have become more confident, but I know I have so much more to go. If I have grown this much in just one year, I cannot wait to see what happens in the next three years.

I love living with my best friends and having endless sleepovers.

Freshman year of college is literally a sleepover every single day with your roommate and if you get along, the memories are endless (like your roommate talking to you in their sleep, and if your lucky they might even sing to you in their sleep). As you begin to move off campus, you get to live with all of your best friends and although, you may have all your own rooms, you know you can always crawl into one of their beds if you need some extra love. Who would want to give that all up?

The opportunities are right in front of you.

In college, you are given so many opportunities to try new things and be encouraged to get outside of your comfort zone. From internships to being involved in greek life, holding a position in a club, to chasing after your dreams, the experiences you are able to have are endless. You will never have access to try as many things as you do in college.

The real world is a scary place.

Let's be real, the real world is a scary place and personally, I am in no rush to get there. College is an in-between time of personal freedom and responsibility. Once you get that diploma though, you are on your own fending for yourself in the big bad world.

I am so glad I have three years till I graduate, because as my mom told me, "Never rush getting old. Growing up is not that fun."

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
