Terrible Customers Encountered In Food Or Retail Jobs

If you have worked before, you have met at least one of these customers.

As someone that works in a demanding, fast-paced dessert shop in the Top Ten Most Instagrammed Places in the local area, I can say working sucks the life out of you sometimes. The draining feeling of talking to hundreds of people a day, repeating the same things over and over again just to get through the day, the physical and mental aches catching up to you the night after or even the morning after that grueling shift. Then there are those people. The customers that suck three times as much as the job itself. So this is a list of people you may have encountered during those hours, for all of you workers.

1. The Difficult Requesters

You know who these are. Hell, you were probably one of them at one point. Whether it’s food services, they are the ones ordering the most difficult or time-consuming orders. With retail, they are probably asking for something that doesn't exist or just isn't possible.

2. The Night Owl Crew

I have absolutely no idea why anyone wants to leave their cozy cocoon of a home at 11 p.m. at night and decide to come to the trendy dessert shop or stop by a “quick bite” when the workers got things to do — like close the store and get back to their lives. Believe or not, we got lives too! Shocker.

3. The Difficult Night Requesters

This is the combination of both parties mentioned before where they come when the kitchen closes or when it’s time to clean up for the retailers and their presence and demanding orders this late at night makes you strangle them mentally. So don’t be that jerk.

4. The Wannabe Instagrammers

If you work in food, especially the trendy kinds of places, you know. These are the people (usually comes in a clique of 4+ teenage girls in them high waisted shorts and crop tops) who are willing to pay like $10+ for the Insta likes. Then they will get in the passageway of other customers and workers trying to do their job because they need the “on point lighting.” Please child, people got time to spend with loved ones and workers who need to do their jobs.

5. The Blind, Needy Ones

This is that customer who believes the correct way to speak to a human being is when that human is speaking to another person or when they are holding like four boxes of supplies. Could you wait like 10 seconds so I can put them down at least? Like I’m already talking to someone, wait your turn so I can help you accordingly. Know your social queues, man.

6. The Perverted Delinquents

Hello? I see you checking out my co-worker’s butt. She’s not some object to admire, she a person, not a subject to the male gaze. Give us workers some respect.

7. The Indecisives

Ever heard of Yelp? You should probably do your research before entering an unknown realm of foods and not back up the line. Because that’s what you’re doing. You had time — in line to go on your phone and google our establishment. You want a sample? Fine, great! At least your doing your research. Just don’t be like, “So, what is this place?” Fool, I see your iPhone 6 Plus. Look it up.

8. The Racists

I got to say it to the lady with the Dolce and Gabbana purse: I. Can. Speak. English. Well. You don’t have to speak slowly to me and enunciate every single syllable as if it’s foreign to my ears. I was born in Northern California. I went to a high school with five Mormon churches within a half a mile radius of it. I believe I know English pretty well.

9. The Real Life, 2-Dimensional Character

They are the ones that you actually try to make an effort to provide the best customer service as possible because you just feel perky enough to do it. When they don’t respond to your clever jokes and charming personality, your social anxiety kicks in and hence results to internal screaming. Thanks, bland extra character in my life, you just ruined me.

10. The “That’s Not What I Wanted” Accusers

Please, I heard you loud and clear. You said what you wanted, and I recorded everything carefully. I even repeated everything you said to you before processing the transaction. You got what you ordered initially. We can remake the order for you, but don’t say that I made a mistake because I didn’t.

This post is dedicated to that person whether a pending skilled person within high school or college years, or that post-grad that can’t seem to find that ideal career right after receiving your diploma, you’re not alone in not being paid enough for your job due to dealing with crappy humans. You are appreciated and not alone. Remember that during those busy hours.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
