As someone that works in a demanding, fast-paced dessert shop in the Top Ten Most Instagrammed Places in the local area, I can say working sucks the life out of you sometimes. The draining feeling of talking to hundreds of people a day, repeating the same things over and over again just to get through the day, the physical and mental aches catching up to you the night after or even the morning after that grueling shift. Then there are those people. The customers that suck three times as much as the job itself. So this is a list of people you may have encountered during those hours, for all of you workers.
1. The Difficult Requesters
You know who these are. Hell, you were probably one of them at one point. Whether it’s food services, they are the ones ordering the most difficult or time-consuming orders. With retail, they are probably asking for something that doesn't exist or just isn't possible.
2. The Night Owl Crew
3. The Difficult Night Requesters
4. The Wannabe Instagrammers
5. The Blind, Needy Ones
This is that customer who believes the correct way to speak to a human being is when that human is speaking to another person or when they are holding like four boxes of supplies. Could you wait like 10 seconds so I can put them down at least? Like I’m already talking to someone, wait your turn so I can help you accordingly. Know your social queues, man.
6. The Perverted Delinquents
Hello? I see you checking out my co-worker’s butt. She’s not some object to admire, she a person, not a subject to the male gaze. Give us workers some respect.7. The Indecisives
Ever heard of Yelp? You should probably do your research before entering an unknown realm of foods and not back up the line. Because that’s what you’re doing. You had time — in line to go on your phone and google our establishment. You want a sample? Fine, great! At least your doing your research. Just don’t be like, “So, what is this place?” Fool, I see your iPhone 6 Plus. Look it up.
8. The Racists
9. The Real Life, 2-Dimensional Character
They are the ones that you actually try to make an effort to provide the best customer service as possible because you just feel perky enough to do it. When they don’t respond to your clever jokes and charming personality, your social anxiety kicks in and hence results to internal screaming. Thanks, bland extra character in my life, you just ruined me.10. The “That’s Not What I Wanted” Accusers
This post is dedicated to that person whether a pending skilled person within high school or college years, or that post-grad that can’t seem to find that ideal career right after receiving your diploma, you’re not alone in not being paid enough for your job due to dealing with crappy humans. You are appreciated and not alone. Remember that during those busy hours.
