Ten Types of Friends You'll Make in College

Which one are you?

Ten Types of Friends You'll Make in College

Although my time at Auburn has been short so far, there are many things I have picked up rather quickly. One of the more obvious things is all of the different kinds of friends I have made. Each of them have their own spunky quirks that defines them and make them who they are.

1. The Overachiever

"What did you make on the chemistry test? I'm so pissed I got a 95. I was sure I made a 100."

We all have that friend that is never satisfied with her grades, unless of course, every paper is a 100 A+ Excellent! She starts studying three weeks before the next test and spends the night in the library. She may even email the professor because he was wrong and she was right... those three points are life and death. Thank goodness the library is closed (for the most part) on the weekends.

2. The Party Girl

Oh, the party girl. I really wonder if she has ever missed a party... in her WHOLE LIFE. Being the party girl isn't necessarily a bad thing; it's actually pretty impressive. How on Earth do you still have a functioning liver is a real mystery. She does have the best stories to tell though, (the ones she can remember). It's 5 o'clock somewhere, am I right?! And if you don't usually go out much and decide to go with her, she will make it one of the best nights you've had in a long time. Oh, it's Tuesday night.. Anyone down for margs? No? How about pitchers?

3. The Mom

Thank the Lord for the mom. Being the mom doesn't mean boring by any means because moms still know how to have a good time. The mom is just the one that will drink, but not too much... She's the one you're glad to have on the nights that you drink a little too much and need someone to hold your hair back or take you to Mama G's for the nachos you'll regret the next day. She's the one that always has your best interest at heart and will tell you the truth whether it be good, bad or ugly.

4. The Netflixer

Which show should I start watching? Well your Netflix friend can tell you just the one! You wonder how she is still making it in school because she watches Netflix more than she goes to class. Hey, no judgement, girlfriend. You do you! Whatever works.

5. The Complainer

Um, hey can you shut up now? Everyone has that friend that always has something to complain about. You can't really do anything about it either, except tell them to shut up or just zone them out the whole time they complain. Oh, you're so annoyed that the four guys that are chasing you are all texting you and you don't know what to do? Life must be hard.

6. The Girl You're Glad To Have Around Because She Says All The Stuff You're Thinking But Shouldn't Say Out Loud

My oh my do I love this girl! She is quite the ballsy one but I'm glad to have her around! She's definitely the confrontational one, but who doesn't love seeing a little drama (as long as it's not me). It's nice to see who she's gonna serve on a platter tonight but I wouldn't wanna be the one sliced and diced on her bad side.

7. The Most Hilarious Person You've Ever Met

You're finally here!!! No matter what she's talking about she somehow finds a way to make it one of the funniest things you've ever heard. Every time she is around, there is a guarantee that you will find yourself with tears rolling down your cheeks and your stomach cramping from all the laughs she seems to always bring.

8. The Athlete

It's like she is training for the Olympics or something. She eats healthy ALL the time. Works out like three times a day. "Um, excuse me ma'am... you do realize this is college where you are supposed to be eating like, CRAP, 95 percent of the time, right? And the only exercise you should get is the walk from your bed to class?" Her days of being a baller still exist. She is constantly competing in whatever it is because she wants to be the best. Being an athlete is truly something that's in your blood... I guess.

9. The Sorority Girl

Are the t-shirts gonna be Comfort Colors? If I had a dollar for every time I heard that... She's the girl that makes sure you know what sorority she's in. There aren't any t-shirts in her drawer without her letters. Her room has at least six picture frames with the name of her srat on them along with four sweatshirts and three PFGs just in case you forgot which one she's in. "When would be the best time to post this to Insta so it gets more likes?"

10. The Long Lost Twin

WHEEEEERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE, ALL MY LIFE!!! *insert Rhianna's voice* Well hello there, I didn't know I had a twin out there. We are literally the same person and now that we've met, there is no escaping. I'm sorry you've in it for the long haul, Sweets. JK no apology needed because you feel the same way, since we are twins. I am so thankful for this friend because I never have to explain myself... she just gets me. There are always fun times had whether planned, spontaneous or doing absolutely nothing.

Everyone needs someone to lean on. Having all types of friends makes life more exciting and broadens your horizon a touch. If everyone was the overachiever, it would be a constant battle of the brains, and if everyone was the party girl 24/7, there would be constant trips to the hospital. College will bring forth some of the best, worst, craziest and most unforgettable friends you could ever imagine. Now that I have met them, I truly don't know what I would do without them. (Except the complainer... she can hit the road.)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
