Recruitment. For anyone involved in Greek life, that one word is packed with a heck of a lot of emotions. It's a stressful time where everything has to be just so and exquisite, but it's also an amazing time where you get to show off all of the amazing things your organization has to offer. Not sure if you want to go through recruitment? Here are ten reasons why you should!
1. You won't know until you try.
So many people say "Oh, Greek life isn't for me." But so many of those same people choose to go through recruitment anyway and end up finding an amazing organization. At least sign up for recruitment. Who knows, maybe it won't be the right fit for you. But it also may be the best decision you've ever made. Going through the recruitment process doesn't commit you to an organization. It simply gives you the opportunity.
2. Bid day is an amazing memory.

3. You'll learn a lot about yourself.
Being a part of any Greek organization means learning a lot about yourself. During recruitment, you'll be asked a lot of questions about yourself, which will force you to dig deep and answer honestly so that you find the right fit. Going Greek also means a lot of different events and opportunities, so it's quite a journey of self discovery. Plus, having a great support system behind you will likely make you more comfortable when trying new things, so you'll be more willing to take risks.
4. You'll meet amazing people.
Joining a Greek organization means being connected to your chapter's members, as well as the organization at large. Whether you and your big become best friends or you meet a member from another chapter on the street while wearing your letters, going Greek means finding some amazing people. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to connect with the larger Greek community on your campus, so you'll meet members from other organizations, too.
5. The events are tons of fun.
From sisterhood events to philanthropy fundraisers to social gatherings, the number of things going on in a Greek organization never seems to stop. There will always be something fun going on and, on the chance that there's not, there's bound to be someone else in your organization that's looking for something to do!
6. Networking opportunities.

7. There's an opportunity to give back.

8. The cute shirts!
This one probably doesn't even need to be said, but the tshirts are really an amazing perk of going Greek. Is there an event? You'll get a tshirt. Is it recruitment week? You'll get a tshirt. Are you catching on here?
9. You'll find people who share your values.

10. You'll be held to a high level of scholarship expectations.
Most organizations require a minimum GPA to be kept by their members, which pushes everyone to achieve their best. Plus, study hours, tutoring, and other services are usually available, so you'll have plenty of resources for getting the help you need.
