As Valentine's Day rolls around, it's easy to feel overwhelmed when trying to plan a memorable date. Being a single college student in LA County, I've thankfully compiled a list of where I'd at least like to spend this holiday with someone in the future. Here are ten places you can take your significant other and be sure to wow them.
1. Venice Canals
If you can't go to the actual city, you might want to think about taking your partner here instead. With bridges, foliage, and even gondola rides, you can feel like you're in Venice for a significantly lower cost.
2. Echo Park Lake Paddle Boating
Nothing says partnership like having to pedal a boat together. Taking a boat that fits two (how romantic), you can book an hour or more on the lake with a view of the city in front of you.
3. LA City Hall Observation Deck
If you want to make your significant other feel on top of the world, you may as well take them to the top of the city. Located on the 27th floor, it's a bit of a secret hideaway in the City Hall building. Once you get up there, you do get wonderful views of the Los Angeles cityscape.
4. Electric Dusk Drive-In
A lover of hopeless romance? Try going on a date to this drive-in movie theater. With dine in options and the same old-school feeling of parking your car and snuggling together, this is a sure win for the old-fashioned couple.
5. Angeles National Forest
For the nature lover, Angeles National Forest is the perfect option. With hiking trails and views of waterfalls, it's great if you just want to get away for the day without being too far away from civilization.
6. Griffith Observatory
By day, you can hike up to Griffith. By night, enjoy stunning city views from the top of the city. With grassy patches in the front as well, you can possibly also plan a picnic.
7. The Huntington Library
A library, museum, and arboretum all in one, this is the right spot if you're trying to spend a jam-packed day full of culture. Check out the cultural gardens and historical art exhibits to sway a history junkie's heart.
8. Santa Monica Pier
Basic? Yes. Still, nothing spells romance like being stuck on top of a Ferris wheel together or screaming your hearts out on the West Coaster roller coaster.
9. LA Farmer's Market
For the foodie in your life, try going to the LA Farmer's Market. With food stalls covering many different cuisines, you can try to eat something from each one and rave about how awesome it is to not have to book a reservation at the last minute.
10. The Arboretum
If you're looking for a quiet place with stunning views, the LA Arboretum is your place to go. With seasonal flowers in bloom and separated geographically, it's a place to go if you want those cute Valentine's Day couple pictures. Fun fact: it's apparently haunted as well.
Bonus: Original LA Flower Market
Nothing completes Valentine's Day like a bouquet of flowers. Venture down to the LA Flower District and you can enter into the flower market, where you can find an immense variety of florals to make your own perfect bundle.
