While you may hear this time and time again, Hillary Clinton and Donald trump are not the only options. You are never forced to vote Republican or Democrat, and there are plenty of other parties out there that you probably would identify with far more than the two parties that have kept the people down for so long. There’s another party in particular that has been growing quickly, ever since their creation back in the 70s; The Libertarian Party.
I myself am a Libertarian and have identified as one for the past 3 years, and the road I took to get here wasn’t always fun. At first I thought I was a Democrat, but after further research I realized they did not represent me, and the same happened when I went over to the Republicans. I started off liking Romney, I mean he was the “frontrunner”. But I noticed someone else on that debate stage; Congressman Ron Paul. Ron was far different from the other Republicans, and many political analyzers considered him to be Libertarian leaning. I decided to look into the Libertarian Party and that’s when I found where I belong.
The Libertarian Party believes in total and absolute freedom of the people, where nothing would be done to you without your consent. We believe that people do best without limitations, and that they do not need to be belittled and controlled by a government who does not care whether they live or die (Also we firmly believe that taxation is theft and violates the basic principles of an individual’s wealth, which can help secure them a living in a free market society). Only you know what’s good for yourself, and it’s up to you to make decisions in your own life, not a government. That means not only do we support people owning and carrying guns, but we also support two consenting adults of any gender to get married without being restricted by anyone else; And if they want to go out and smoke weed to celebrate their marriage, then let them. As long you are not harming anyone else, you can do what you wish.
Many individuals see problems with allowing the people to be free however. Donald Trump thinks if you decide to worship Allah, you should be executed because you’re a terrorist, even though you have never harmed anyone based on your faith. Hillary Clinton thinks that if you own a gun, you have every intention to go around and start shooting people because guns make you want to kill, and she can’t trust you if you own one (Even though I don’t trust her serving wiping, pant suit wearing butt to sit in the Oval Office). Two candidates who embody control of the American people are now in the running for the big position; President of the United States. Now do you really want two of the most vile humanoid creatures to represent you in this election? Of course not! That’s why we Libertarians are here. Governor Gary Johnson and Governor Bill Weld are the two individuals who are not only representing the Libertarian Party, but also the American people. Two men whose goals are to liberate us all from modern day tyranny, how could you go wrong?
Two parties do not represent the whole entire population of our country; Our views are too complex to define us all in two categories. But aside from that, the other issues we face is political parties brainwashing individuals to join their side, and not letting the members think for themselves. The reason why Libertarians debate each other so often is because we are all able to think and speak for ourselves, and it is highly encouraged that you voice your opinions with each other so that we all may be enlightened on a subject. Common discussions we hold include abortion, immigration, the concept of borders, military, war, and so many other complex topics that we all have our opinions on. Within our party we have Libertarians, Anarcho-Capitalists, Anarchists, Minarchists, Voluntaryists, and so many other subdivisions; Yet at the end of the day we all respect one another’s beliefs and their right to express their ideas. No one has the right to force another individual’s thinking; That destroys the very essence of being an intelligent being.
This November I ask that you give freedom a chance, and vote for Governor Gary Johnson. See what it’s live to let life live for 4 years, and if you truly don’t like it, then you can always just vote in the same people we’ve been electing for decades. But I’ll warn you now, once you have a taste of Liberty, it’s hard to give it up.
