Tantalizing Twenties: 20 Things for the Next 10 Years

I recently turned 20 and I would be lying to you if I said that I wasn’t excited, yet slightly petrified. It felt like I reached a huge milestone -- and no, it wasn’t that I beat teen pregnancy. I was entering a new decade; halfway to 40, single, and in two short years I would be entering the real world as a college graduate. We were all warned, whether it be from our parents, middle school health teacher, or college psychology professor, that these years will go by in the blink of an eye. And for the first time, I am beginning to realize that they are all right. Your twenties are your glory years, the years you make memories that will last a lifetime, the years you plan for the future, the years you grow up and find yourself. I feel like it was just yesterday that I was turning 10, so when I blink and am 30, I want to look back knowing my that twenties were a success. Here are 20 goals for your 20's; may you look back 10 years from now and know that the past decade of your life was nothing short of amazing.

1. Volunteer

Giving back is rewarding.

2. Travel

There is an entire world out there awaiting your arrival. Explore, experience, and discover the unknown.

3. Own a Pet

You will be responsible for another living being and that’s scary, but it’s also a part of growing up.

4. Save Money

My parents are both accountants and I’m still not sure what a 401K is.

5. Stop Dieting

Just stop. It’s not worth it. Life is short, eat the cake!

6. Say Yes

To anything, everything, and everyone (within reason)

.

7. Friends

Invest in the ones that stick around for your to your Beyoncé moments, but also your Lindsay Lohan days.

8. Positivity

Surround yourself with good vibes only.

9. Try New Things

The restaurant down the street, the best selling book, the hobby you’ve always wanted to try but never had the time for.

10. Be Healthy

Exercise often. Drink endless amounts of water. Eat your vegetables (grandma was right).

11. Go After What You Want

Stop apologizing. Never say sorry for who you are

.

12. Live On Your Own

A perfect excuse to finally use your "home sweet home" Pinterest board.

13. Love Yourself More

Being critical won’t get you anywhere; appreciate yourself because you are WONDERFUL and WORTH IT.

14. A Serious Relationship

If you're like me and want to be married by the time you're 30, use this time to lock down that little blue box.

15. Prioritize

Make to-do lists, become more organized, and don’t stress over the little things.

16. Be Selfless

Smile at the stranger, hold the door open for the woman behind you. You will be surprised how much joy can come from helping others.

17. Start a Family

Plan. Plan. Plan.

18. Solid Relationship With Your Parents

They supported you through diapers, braces, prom, and college. Treasure every moment with them, learn from there mistakes, they were 20 once too. Never stop taking their advice, because I promise they will always be right.

19. Dream Career

The one that makes you jump (figuratively speaking) out of bed in eagerness of starting the day, the smile at the thought of seeing your co-workers.

And..

20. Be Genuinely Happy

You only have one life, don’t regret it!

Growing up is scary, yet thrilling. We have to learn to embrace the change, live in the moment, and enjoy everything life has to offer.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
