If it's going to be, it's up to me.
I don't remember when I first heard or read this quote, but it's been important to me lately.
For the majority of the summer, I have struggled with being happy. I know that happy is not a 24/7 thing. It shouldn't be. But when a majority of your days are filled with sadness and tears that you yourself don't even completely understand, it's time to make a change.
Different circumstances can bring beautiful experiences in life. Go out on a limb. Take risks. Change things, and change the way you see the world.
I’ve realized that I need to create happiness in my own life. I can change my circumstances and create a better life for myself.
Take charge. If you're not happy, do something about it. Cut toxic people out of your life. Have plans to make necessary changes in your life, and stick to them! Some make take longer than others, so don't be hard on yourself.
Start small if you have to. Don’t lose hope. Please don't. I have so many times in my life. Sometimes it seems as though things can never start to get better. But they will. Give it time, and don't expect everything to happen overnight.
Make lists of what you want to accomplish, both long-term and short-term. Cross things off as you achieve them! It’s so addicting, actually. The adrenaline takes over a bit.
The happiness that follows and accompanies the adrenaline is awesome. So stand up, or sit down and make a list to better your present and future.
If you need a bit of encouragement, I love Michael Bublé's song, "I Believe in You." Starting over might not be easy, but it's definitely worth it if you're not happy where you are.
One of my favorite lyrics is: "I know that there are times that you feel worthless - like all the love you get, you don't deserve it," because I have felt this way countless times in my life, and no one should ever feel that way. Everyone deserves love in their life, whether it be from friends, family, or significant others. Everyone needs love.
You can make things better for yourself. Just have a little faith, and believe in yourself.
I believe in you.
