5 Things To Do Before Summer Ends

What will you do with your time left?

5 Things To Do Before Summer Ends

Summer is a time full of laughs, love and learning. I intend for these 5 things to spark at least one of those key components of summer, one last time this year.

1. Take Some "Me Time"

Before heading back to school or work, for good, make sure that you are at one with your mind and your body. Personal time can mean many different things for many different people. How I interpret and choose to spend my time to better myself, may be completely different from how you chose to do so, however, there is no wrong way to relax and connect with yourself.

Some of my personal favorites are getting my nails done, writing or heading to the pool. All of my favorite activities help me to think and process my inner thoughts and emotions, something I wouldn't do on any given day. It is crucial to give yourself time to digest and take in everything that's happening in your busy life.

2. Revamp Your Wardrobe

As summer comes to a close, this is usually the era of my debit and credit card going into an ice block in the freezer at my mom's house, or too many others, "End of Season Sales!" Adding some clothes or accessories or even makeup can really put a pep in your step as you head back to school. My favorite time as a child was when my mom would take me to by a back to school outfit, but now I don't have to limit myself to one!

3. Take A Random Trip

A last-minute trip or vacation can be great for various reasons. The discounts on flights or cruises make vacationing that much easier on a tight budget as well as the adventure and memories that arise from the opportunity. We all have a friend who will ask us to go somewhere at an odd hour of the day to do something with them.

I challenge you to one-up them and ask that friend of yours to go on a trip with you last minute. It doesn't have to be a long trip or even far from your hometown for it to be full of fun and one last "hoorah" before summer ends.

4. Spend Time With Family

As we all know and can admit to, school and work come with a large time commitment leaving you with little time to go home, if you go to school away from home, or simply no time to visit with family like you should. Spending time with your family before summer ends helps to remind them that you will still care for them even as you become busy again and it will also help to make saying goodbye even easier.

5. Try Something New

Trying something new can be a way to branch out, meet new people or just have fun. There is no wrong answer when trying to think of new things to do. Some of my personal favorites are visiting an art museum, going on a picnic or even using a new app, such as the one I used in the photo above.

The app title is Huji and gives photos a vintage look. These are all things that I never thought I would ever do and as soon as I did, I planned my next trip. Summer is the best time to try something new because there is so much to do everywhere.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
