9 Summer Outdoor Date Ideas

My boyfriend and I have been trying to come up with some activities to do together. This got me thinking about summery things that would be so much fun to do before school starts again. These could be dates, hangouts with friends, or even just something you'd want to do by yourself. However you want to do it, these are some great ideas for summer activities:

1. Have a picnic.

Very few things are as classic and romantic as picnics. You can make some food or buy something tasty, walk out into a beautiful field, and enjoy a nice meal with some nice company.

2. Go for a walk or hike.

Taking some time to appreciate nature and get some exercise is a great summer activity. Go on a trail or just walk around your neighborhood together. You'll both enjoy the fresh air.

3. Enjoy a bonfire.

If your friends or church group are planning a bonfire, join in! You could even have one just for the two of you. Make some s'mores, tell stories, and enjoy a warm summer night.

4. Grill Out.

Cooking for each other is classically romantic, so why not do it outside? Make some hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, or anything else you want.

5. Go swimming.

Going to the pool is one of the best summer activities. You can hang out in the water, have some snacks, or read a book while getting a little sun. Bring some floaties and water guns and you could have a really fun date.

6. Go to the lake or beach.

I love going to the lake. At the one I go to you can rent pontoons or hang out at the shops. It's great! The beach is also a good place if it's close to you. Play in the sand and enjoy all of the fresh seafood that's available.

7. Go to a drive-in theater.

If you have never been to a drive-in theater, you need to go! They are so cool. There was one near me, but it closed down and I was so disappointed. If there's one near you, I highly recommend you give it a try.

8. Try stargazing.

If you guys are out towards the country and it's night time, you will see an amazing view. I get that not everyone can go into the country areas, but if you can, this is a sweet and simple activity that you will absolutely love.

9. Go canoeing or kayaking.

Some people aren't into canoeing or kayaking, and that's okay. I'm not really into it either. If you are, however, then this is a great idea for a date, especially if you both enjoy it. If your partner hasn't gone before, maybe try something calm and relaxing to see if they like it. If you're both experienced, then you could even try handling harsher waters for something more fun and exciting. Just be sure to stay safe!

I hope these ideas help you utilize the rest of your summer by spending time with the people you love. Go out and have fun!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
