An Open Letter To Racist White People

I just cannot find a reason to justify supporting such a hateful man.

An Open Letter To Racist White People
Flikr

I'm not entirely sure where to begin exactly. As an 18-year-old white girl in America, I have problems completely comprehending the need to constantly spread hate to people in your communities. Being a disgraceful human being isn't getting you anywhere in life, so I'm not sure what your agenda truly is. Just keep this in mind while you stomp around in your Nazi attire: Even white people are tired of you.

We just want everyone to finally get along and be peaceful, but white people do it again! Another white man shoots a Muslim who was peacefully strolling down the street. I know every race commits crimes, I get that, but it's too much. Crimes shouldn't be committed at all, in all honesty. It's ridiculous when I walk down the street and have to assure my neighbors that I'm not here to call the government to try to take them away because Trump was elected into office.

Sue me, I'm a liberal white girl. I'll admit that to anyone any day, no questions asked. As a liberal, I feel like we are pushing for more than just ourselves but for the safety of everyone else in this country, we're pushing for the peace of mind of our neighbors. Go ahead and call me a snowflake because I agree that it should've been Bernie over Clinton and Clinton over Trump. It doesn't matter to me that Trump thinks abortion is wrong, it matters to me that Trump says that Mexican immigrants are rapists and criminals. It matters that the safety of a fellow member of society who identified as a Muslim was assaulted at a Trump rally.

Go ahead and tell me how inconsiderate I am for considering Hillary more than Trump because she is a criminal. I'd be a hypocrite if I supported Trump because he is a criminal himself. Being racist, especially saying it in front of millions upon millions of people, is a hate crime.

But wait, there's more. Sexual assault is still a crime no matter how much money you have, but the government somehow excuses this as he still freely calls himself the leader of this falling nation. At least fifteen women have stepped up and accused him of the crime, and of course, they were all thrown out of consideration because he is a great businessman who just says what everyone's thinking. He's just the guy who willingly exploits his "locker room talks" and continues to deteriorate the image of a woman as he continues to talk about the temple they call their body a "beautiful piece of a*s."

I'm still baffled by the decisions our country has made, and even though I can't change any of it, I speak my mind anyway. As much as I try to understand some people's reasoning for liking and supporting him so much, I still find a flaw in every argument they make. I just could never find the will in me to support such a hateful human being, and for that I am sorry, but sue me for being a liberal.

Thank you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
