One of the biggest issues students have in college is stress, which can have detrimental effects on your body. Stress can cause hair loss and much pain for the person suffering from stress. Although there are a lot of effects stress can have on their body, there are ways to reduce and prevent stress.
College students suffer from stress for many reasons. One reason students suffer from stress is the fear of failing on a big test. Most students are not in trouble of failing the test but stress about it because it is a natural reaction. Other than tests students suffer from stress because they fear of the unknown. They fear about what they do not know will happen. Students fear for the next year of college, graduating college, and what they will do after college. This fear is a large cause for stress for college students. Another reason students have stress is because they are home sick. A lot of students suffer home sickness and stress for the want to see their family soon.
There are many issues stress has on students' bodies. Some issues include: emotions, behaviors, thinking ability, and physical health. Symptoms stress have on students body include: becoming easily agitated, frustrated, and moody, feeling overwhelmed, like they are losing control or need to take control, having difficulty relaxing and quieting their mind, feeling bad about themselves (low self-esteem), lonely, worthless, and depressed, and avoiding others. Symptoms stress has on students' behavior include: Low energy headaches, upset stomach, including diarrhea, constipation, and nausea, aches, pains, and tense muscles, chest pain and rapid heartbeat, and insomnia.
There are also many ways stress can be reduced and prevented. One way is to get regular exercise. Use the stairs instead of elevator, walk the dog, walk or bike to the grocery store, or go for a jog. Another great way to reduce and prevent stress is to engage socially. A good way for college students to engage socially is to join new clubs and meet new people. Avoiding stressful situations is also a good way to reduce stress. Avoiding people that stress them, taking control of their environment, and learning to say “no.” Avoiding the stressor is good to reduce the amount of stress. Eating healthy can also help reduce stress. Reducing sugar and caffeine consumption is a good start at eating healthy. Also avoiding alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs is a healthy diet.
Stress is the biggest issue college students face. It is not just an issue for college students though. Adults out of college and even high school students face stress on a daily basis. Though there are many reasons why many students suffer from stress, there are many ways to prevent and reduce stress.
