I have never been the sporty type. Growing up, I would constantly beg my mom to sign me up for athletic type activities such as volleyball, soccer, and karate. My mom never did because she was afraid that I would "hurt myself." Her reasoning was that I was clumsy enough as it is, and I was, and I still am. I guess that means I can kick my dreams of being a Power Ranger out the door (thanks mom). If you're someone who is as athletically inept as I am, then you will understand a lot of the struggles on this list.
1. Hand-Eye Coordination = None
You struggle because reflexes are not a natural born thing. Also, its abosolutely terrifying anyone tries to throw you anything, ever.
2. Sport Lingo Makes Zero Sense
You barely have time to memorize what's going on in school, let alone sports terms. Why is there so much knowledge involved? Most of the time people are just kicking, throwing, or hitting things into nets, or the air, or random holes.
3. Getting Picked Last For Gym
A cliche that is super true. People know you suck, you know you suck, and yet you still find it offensive to be picked last.
4. Running Is The Enemy
Basically, running makes you feel like your dying. MAYBE with enough adrenaline you could run away when you need to, like from a wild and crazy bear. But other than that, it's awful.
5. Being Clumsy
This goes hand in hand with the lack of reflexes thing. Not playing sports never allowed you to acquire the skills of balance or coordination. Heck, I manage to walk into doors that are open. How you may ask? Just that talented.
6. Watching Sports Is Not Your Idea Of A Good Time
Everyone is screaming, or upset, or excited. You don't know when or why or how to be any of those things.
7. Doing Sport Like Things Makes You Feel Like Everyone Is Judging
When you are thrown into sporty situations, it's absolutely terrifying. You feel like everyone is looking at you like you're such a noob. Which you are. Actually, you're not even noob level, you have negative skill, sometimes you get benched, which is both a relief, and disappointing.
8. When Sporty Friends Are All "Come On It'll Be Fun"

9. You Still Hold Out Hope You'll Find Out You're "Naturally" Good At A Sport
There's an episode of Lizzie McGuire, where she finds out she's naturally good at rhythmic gymnastics. Everyone in gym class is in awe of her talents (except Kate of course, because she's a hater). That is the moment you're waiting for, when everyone is all "oh wait you're good at a sport-like activity! You're super cool!".
10. But Then You Realize That You Were Oh So Wrong
You're brought back to reality all to fast, whether it be a volleyball to the face, a soccer kick to the shin, or you just eating dirt from tripping on your own two feet.
Sometimes I hold out hope for that moment that never happened in grade school or high school gym class. That moment where I shine and everyone is in awe of my sporty-girl abilities. Until that opportunity arises, I'll just be here, doing non-sporty/active things.
