Everyone say's you can't pick your family and this might be true however I don't believe I could have picked a better mother if I tried.
Twenty years after giving birth to me, her second daughter, she has never stopped amazing me.
My mother has been my constant. She has been my best friend when no one else was there. She was my doctor, she cured the colds with chicken noodle soup and put band-aids on all my scraped knees and elbows. She was my chauffeur. No matter how many things we had going on she always got me there, whether it be a birthday party, softball practices or games, school supply shopping, and all the other random places I may have needed to be. My mom was my personal chef, now don't get me wrong it wasn't always five star meals but we never went hungry. She did her best and we were always satisfied. She has been a shoulder to cry on more times than I can count. The moments when school just got overwhelming or when practice just didn't go my way she was there, no questions asked, she was there. My mother has always been my voice of reason in tough situations and decisions. When my head and my heart couldn't get on the same page my mother was there to be an unbiased voice of reason to help my heart, or my head find the right direction. I'm forever thankful for the woman who raised me. I'm forever grateful that you've been by my side no matter what and never given up on me. All the times I forgot to say thank you because I "thought I was entitled to something", I can only apologize for now. I'm sorry for all the nights I got angry because you wanted me to come home at a certain time and I just couldn't see why, now I know that all it was were you were looking out for me because you cared. Thank you for being the mother that always stayed up til I got home from late night away games or late night showings at the movie theater. Here I am only a few years later now realizing how much you gave up for me and my sister, and now for your grandbabies as well. You put everyone first. You worked so hard your whole life just to simply provide for Kassie and I. You've given up so many things to see us happy, whether it be your time, your money, your energy, or even giving up your wants so that our wants could be fulfilled, today I say thank you for that. You have truly shown me what it means to be a wonderful mother. Although I may not have children right now you still inspire me as a person, and you encourage me to always be a better me tomorrow than I was today. You're incredible. Nothing shy of phenomenal.
I couldn't ask for a better mother. I'm a firm believer in you are a product of your environment, and with that statement holding true I say this, every time you tell me your proud I say thank you, or you tell me what a wonderful young lady I have become I say thank you, but I thank you not only for the compliment but I thank you for making me who I am today, thank you for raising me with the determination, morals, and goal seeking attitude that you have. I'll be forever grateful for that. With all of that being said I want you to realize this, it may seem that I have out grown your lap, and I may not hold your hand as much like I use to, but I promise you this, I'll always count on you, look up to you, and Ill always push towards my goals because that's what you taught me to do. Momma, I love you, I will always be your little girl.
