My Stranger Things Season Two Reaction

Stranger Things has made yet another earth shattering appearance on television screens. On the night of the Super Bowl, Netflix revealed season two of this mind blowing story of Earth and an upside down world. It quieted the room immediately, even those individuals eating chips and salsa stopped chewing because they were afraid of the crunch, crunch, crunch. At the end of the preview, everyone was silent and then chaos erupted.

At the beginning of the preview, a sister and brother fought over who got to eat the Eggo waffle. It caught my attention right away because my brothers and I fight over the last one every time I’m home.

After that, I immediately clued in that this was Stranger Things. From the spazzing of the TV to Eleven’s voice being called out. My excitement and anxiety raised tenfold, both from the scared voice of Mike and the music. When Eleven’s face showed up on the screen, I jumped in my seat. I got this crazy smile on my face because I literally could not control my excitement. I thought it was creative that the director filmed her with her eyes opening upside down. Maybe the director did that to emphasize the fact that Eleven is in the Upside Down?

The next part I reacted to was when Will, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas showed up on screen in front of the school. It was Halloween in the show, and the boys were all wearing Ghostbusters costumes. I laughed a little at that part. I found it ironic that they were wearing monster killing costumes and they were actual monster slayers in the show. It made me think if the screenwriter purposefully put them in those costumes for an ironic effect or if that detail was added later on.

The part where the monster takes up the whole television screen spooked everyone. There was a collective gasp in the room when the large, multiple legged monster made its appearance. It’s bigger and possibly scarier than the one in season one. It makes me curious; do the monster come from the same dimension? Is this one after Eleven? The questions keep coming.

Finally, the release date of season two made its own special appearance. With that never ending black background and the red letters that glowed right off of the screen. They spelled out the word Halloween. I wondered if that was a purposeful ironic situation as well; the boys being dressed in Halloween costumes and the release date being Halloween. The whole room erupted in chaos when it came out. We couldn’t believe it was coming out so so far away. There was some anger, but the excitement of a new series of monster fighting kids over powered it. There was some shock. I remember the next day looking up the trailer and replaying it to found out if it really was coming out on Halloween. I looked up different trailers with the same result.

Cheers to Halloween and Stranger Things.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
