Spring break is upon us. With exact weeks varying based on schools and states, most college students (and college student wannabes) will be out in full force this March, making their mark on cities across the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. While one may hear about the wild and crazy times to be had, one question is always: where to go? Below are the top spring break destinations compiled from top sites on the web.
To kick it off with a bang, we begin our journey with coed.com’s “20 Trashiest Spring Break Destinations: 2016 Edition.” With the recent ban of alcohol on the beach for March 2016, Panama City Beach, Fla. does not make the list. According to the site, “Trashy is what Spring Breakers should aim for: cheap, excessive, loud and rowdy. It’s unforgettable, not menacing.” The top ten destinations include (list going from number 10 to number one): Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; New Orleans, La.; Playa del Carmen, Mexico; Negril, Jamaica; Acapulco, Mexico; South Padre Island, Texas; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Cancun, Mexico; and number one, Las Vegas, Nev.
Next we visit Total Frat Move’s article “Top 7 Spring BreakDestinations Now that PCB Has Banned Alcohol.” Its list, which includes some vague destination types, is based off of similar principles as the previous list. It includes: Cancun, Mexico; Destin, Fla.; Beaver Creek/Vail/Any big-time ski destination; a cruise to the Bahamas; another school; Disneyland (or Disney World); and staying at home.
This list is a little more attainable, especially as far as prices go.Our next list comes from Fox News. A little more reserved in its descriptions than the previously mentioned lists, “Top Spring Break Party Destinations for 2016” is based on the “party scene, comfy accommodations and endless entertainment options for maximum de-stressing.” This list includes: Panama City Beach, Fla. (clearly Fox did not get the memo about knocking this one off the list); Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Miami, Fla.; Austin, Texas; Las Vegas, Nev.; New York City; Cancun, Mexico; and Negril, Jamaica. I can’t say that I’m surprised Panama City Beach is still on this list, based off of the source.
The final list for today comes from USA Today itself. “Embrace the madness: 10 spring break party spots” has compiled its list using the stereotypical criteria of “booze-fueled beach parties” and the chance to do what makes you happy. This list includes: Panama City Beach, Fla. (again, apparently the major news outlets have not gotten the memo on this place); Myrtle Beach, S.C.; the Bahamas; Galveston, Texas; South Padre Island, Texas; Puerto Rice; Folly Beach, S.C.; Cancun, Mexico; Miami, Fla.; and the Dominican Republic.
Hopefully, everyone will be traveling to one of these destinations in the next couple of weeks. Whether it be somewhere cold to ski, somewhere hot to drink or home to see your family, Spring Break is a time to relax and enjoy the people you love and the activities you love. Happy Spring Break 2k16!
