The weekend is finally here, and you are SO excited to recruit a new class and meet all the new members.
However, practices for the last few weeks already have completely worn you out, and you know that it is going to be an even longer road to bid day.
All your non-Greek friends just do not understand how stressful everything related to recruitment is.
You have to have all the right recruitment-approved clothes to match the rest of your chapter.
You have given up study, sleep, and self time to practice all the logistics for the big weekend.
Coffee is literally the only reason you are alive right now.
Also, food. Lots and lots of food.
Despite all this, you are ready. You're bringing your A game. You have practiced for weeks. You were born for this.
BRING IT ON POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS!
All the loud cheers, clapping, and smiling at the first parties sometimes can be a little overwhelming for all the new girls.
In turn, everything can get a little overwhelming for you too. Some conversations can just get a little weird.
There are those girls who sort of brag about themselves.
There are also those girls who literally do not say anything.
Sometimes, you just want to walk away.
It is hard when you get those really emotional girls.
"Nod and smile" turns into your recruitment motto.
It just can feel like too much. Sometimes, you just want to go home and bury yourself in bed with Netflix.
Your mouth may hurt from smiling. Your feet may hurt from your wedges. However, you know you can persevere.
Because every few conversations, there are those girls who are just absolutely perfect and make everything so worth it.
The real challenge comes though when you have to convince them why they NEED to list your sorority as their top choice.
There is no worse feeling than when your recruitment crush does not return for the next round.
Why do your sisters not get why this girl is the bomb.com?
Picking just the right girls can get tense when people disagree about who is the right fit for their chapter.
Sorority recruitment can be quite the draining process.
However, you just have to sometimes trust the system. If it is meant to be, that girl you love will come through the door on bid day.
That girl you love may join another chapter, but you have to allow her to make the best choice for herself.
The right girls are going to walk through your doors on bid day, and it is going to best thing ever.
Plus, bid day is always just so much fun.
In the end, you know the most important thing is the sisterhood you will bring these girls, and that is what makes it all worth it.
Another year, another successful recruitment season.
