Songs That'll Help Bring You Back to School

For my September 2016 "playlist," I decided to ditch the playlist theme, and instead, suggest 5 songs/artists for you to check out. I know I would rather have a short select few songs to peruse through, rather than a long, dragged-out list of songs; especially for the back-to-school season when things are a bit haywire.

The pseudo-season of "back to school" is an interesting transition from hot summer days to brisk autumn nights. Temporary summer depression might plague students when going back to school this September, so I hope music can be used as a remedy to help make a proper progression into the new school year. I decided to find 5 songs that can appeal to any sort of time period.

When i think of "back to school" I like to think of relaxing songs, or songs that aren't too "in your face." Songs with loud vocals and electronically fast-paced production can be a bit too much for a time that can be filled with high anxiety and frustration. During this period of time, I like to refrain from listening to songs that are over produced and settle for more easy-listening.

Without further ado, I hope these 5 songs can aid to your, potentially, irksome return to school:

1. "The Fool" by Ryn Weaver

Ryn Weaver has a very unique way of articulating her songs. She does a remarkable job of combining her fairy-like voice with techno production. This song, along with "OctaHate" and "Promises" are perfect for tranquil, rainy days in bed. Ryn has the perfect album for those who aren't looking to overexcite their eardrums.

2. "Dirt Road Anthem" by Jason Aldean

For country music lovers alike, this is definitely a memorable throwback. Jason Aldean faultlessly integrates his signature country sound with interesting rap-infused verses. This song instantly puts me in a unperturbed, relaxed state of mind and is a perfect track to keep you sane when returning to school.

3. "All My Friends" by Snakehips featuring Tinashe and Chance The Rapper

This song is an interesting twist for Tinashe, who usually puts out more heavy-hitting songs. However, this song's laid-back and anthemic chorus make for a perfect "good vibes" kind of song. Undeniably fitting for closing out the summer, while still having lyrics that can be relevant to fall.

4. "Amazing" by Josh Kelley

You may remember this song from way back when; Josh Kelley's underrated, hushed vocals provide for a very happy-go-lucky kind of song. This song is as mellow as you can get and provides listeners with relatable, singalong lyrics.

5. "Save Tonight" by Eagle-Eye Cherry

Yet another throwback to add to the list. Anytime I need a classic "go-to" song to ease my mind and de-stress myself from any sort of situation, I go to this song. Nevertheless, the unobtrusive vocals and guitar-strumming production make the song all the more better. Definitely a song recommended for those who are looking to calm their school-time anxieties.

Optimistically speaking, I think these 5 songs are perfect to help you make a facile passageway into a new school year. Regardless, I hope these are 5-interesting songs to add to your playlists and help battle any troublesome anxieties that may be ensuing your mind.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
