So you have just started college, or you've been attending college for some time now. You wake up and realize that this school may not be the best fit for you anymore.
Whether it's your mental health while at school or it's not fitting your academic potential, it happens. During this process you are thinking about how your life is now, who you are now, and what you want to do.
One topic that is not talked about often is transferring schools.
From someone have has transferred campuses twice, and universities once, I felt completely lost. I felt that since I had no idea where I belonged that I just had to suck it up.
That is just not true.
I am writing this to tell you that by making the worst decision of my life, I made the best decision to transfer. If you are in a situation where you are attending a college that may not be working for you, ask yourself: is this the best fit for me?
If your answer is no, then don't be upset. For whatever reason, it may be that you did not make the best decision. Talk to a parent or someone who you are close to, and try to unpack what you are really looking for in a college.
The best advice to give to a student who wishes to transfer is that changing schools or campuses is easier than you think.
If you are unhappy where you are, don't try to stick it out. Putting yourself in a better situation will make your life in and out of school less stressful and allow you to focus on your own path. You have to put yourself first; if something isn't right to you then listen to yourself.
From a college transfer, it's worth it. Taking the time reflect on what was best for me and my own path was worth it. Its okay to make the wrong decision. It happens to all of us.
