Go Ahead And Joke About My Desire For A Small-Town Boy But Damn, I Have My Reasons

He's got street smarts, and while those might be dirt roads, he still knows what he's doing.

For a long time now, I've been saying that I want to date a "good guy."

When saying that to a guy, I am (nine times out of ten) given a genuinely puzzled look in return. He's most likely thinking, "but I'm a good guy" and blah, blah, blah. Yeah, you are. But you're not the good guy I need. Not the good guy I want.

So to be more specific, I've been telling my mom the specifics for as long as I can remember, "I want a respectable six foot, 200-pound guy that drives a truck, has good manners, loves his mama and isn't scared of commitment." Now I know that it's very specific (obviously, if he's 5'10" or something I'm not gone be like "errr, sorry no.") and is a lot to ask of most of the guys we're in college with right now, so I won't. But as soon as I meet him, yep. You know where I'll be.

I want the boy that knows how to be a sweetheart but will always be wild at heart.

He's the kind of boy that I'll have to remind to update his Instagram because I can't show my mom a picture of a fish he caught 120 weeks ago and expect her to get the gist.

I want the boy who can take my breath away by just wearing jeans and work boots because I LOVE that look more than anything. I always thought that I loved going to country-themed events growing up because I simply liked country music, but no... over time I realized that there was more to it than that. I genuinely adore the lifestyle and the vibe that a small town, let alone a small-town boy, carries as deep as its roots.

I want a guy that will show up randomly and want to go for a drive and not the kind of "drive" most millennials refer to. I want that windows down, country music playing, wind in my hair in his lifted truck type of drive... when you just love to be on the road.

Yes, I am a huge fan of trucks... cliche, I know. But just ask any of my friends, and they will confirm that I do love them, but they're not a requirement. I want a guy that drives me wild with his smile and his eyes too, not just the height of his truck (no matter how much we like that too lol).

Here's my reasoning: I want him to teach me about it. I want to learn. Hell, I even want to drive it sometimes.

The point is, I want a relationship that isn't all about impressing the girl.

Take me mudding on our first date. I don't need a $100 meal that I most likely won't finish by myself. Take me to DogN'Suds or something and I promise I'll share my fries. It's that simple.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
