Last Thursday, September 3rd, Spartans came to support the first game of the season at our one and only Spartan Stadium. There were about 15,000 people who came to the event (both students and students' friends and family). However, all the excitement does not just start and end with the game.
Before the game, there was a Spartan fall kick-off where many SJSU students gathered together and met new students, as well as ate ice cream and other delicious foods.
I interviewed Jackie Nguyen (freshman), and she mentioned to me that she had such a great time at the Spartan fall kick-off because she was able to meet tons of people and show her Spartan Pride.
"I've never been in a place filled with thousands of students who are all excited to support their friends and schoolmates. I came from such a small school; therefore, being surrounded with these types of people is what made me happy I came to SJSU," she said. She was amazed to see how many of our students cheered and shouted their enthusiasm and excitement towards our team.
For many of our SJSU students who could not attend the game, we have a wonderful resource so they could at least listen to it. Our campus's radio station, KSJS 90.5 was able to broadcast and narrate the game. Sometimes, our games are broadcasted live on television. Therefore, our upcoming games will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network, ESPN Network, and ROOT Sports.
I'm glad to say that our team won our very first game of the season (43-13) against New Hampshire and I will continue to support our team as you should too! The feeling of excitement and eagerness of the team and supporters is mind-blowing. Just being able to surround yourself with people who are just as pumped as you are is what makes me a proud Spartan. I cannot wait until all the SJSU students reunite at the stadium and show that Spartan Pride! We hope to see you all at the next game on September 26th against Fresno State. So proud to say that I am a Spartan!
