It is spring break. Your classes are half over, and you're only eight or nine weeks away from summer. You can lay back, relax and work on your tan (for a week). The beginning of your year may have been the best few months of your life, or there may be a bit left to be desired. Regardless of your experience, there's always room to improve! Here are some ways to make the most out of and enjoy the second half of your semester even more!
1. Manage your time.
Maybe there isn't enough to keep you busy; in this case, join a club that relates to your major or that you think you'd like to give a try! Look out for sports you might be interested in, or consider starting a club of your own on campus. If you're feeling overwhelmed with activities, maybe managing your time better means to cut back on some of the events you're involved in and schedule in some time to relax and spend with friends.
2. Set an achievable goal for yourself.
Push yourself, but don't make your goal unattainable. Set a realistic goal for yourself to reach by the start of summer, and work towards it throughout the remainder of the semester!
3. Try something new.
Have you seen posters for the fencing club? Ballroom dancing? Snowboarding? Keep things interesting by trying something new.. Either you'll find a new hobby that you love, or you'll have a good story to tell someday. No matter what happens, it never hurts to try!
4. Befriend your professors.
This can be awkward at first. It always helps to have connections in the department that you're majoring in and if your professors like you, it will definitely be to your benefit. Trust me, there's a lot more to your professors than you see in class each day. Each of them have a journey that brought them to where they are today; they will be able to share their experiences and provide insight that you might not have had otherwise.
5. Don't procrastinate.
We are all guilty of writing a paper the night before or cramming for a test 15 minutes before we're about to take it. It can relieve a lot of stress to be proactive and complete your assignments ahead of time!
6. Make summer plans
Nothing helps motivation like having something to look forward to! Make fun plans for the summer, set up an internship or start applying for jobs now. Maybe you can spend your time traveling or taking some summer classes. Having a plan will give you something to get excited about.
Spring break is upon us! Here's to a great beginning of the year, and to an even better end.
