1. The Cavaliers are the betting favorites in Vegas to win the NBA finals. Their first round match up is against the Boston Celtics, a team miles behind them in terms of talent. The Cavaliers with very little experience, besides Lebron James, needed an easy opponent in the first round in order to get themselves acclimated to the playoff environment and to what comes next.
2. This was Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love's NBA playoff debut. Kyrie is the first player in history to get 30 points and five assists in his first playoff game, ever. He was four for four on three pointers in the first half. Lebron James said ecstatically after the game " We passed our first test."
3. The Atlanta Hawks have the best record in the East going into the playoffs. They did not do as well near the end of the season as they did in the beginning. It was their first 60 win season as a franchise. Much of their success can be attributed to their deep offensive scheme.
4. The MVP candidate, Stephen Curry, has lead his team to the best record in the NBA. The team has the best offensive efficiency of any team in the NBA this year. The Warriors are playing the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round and this is their first time in the playoffs since becoming the Pelicans only a few years ago. Anthony Davis and the Pelicans pushed past the Spurs in the final game in order to side step the Thunder for the eighth seed.
5. Derrick Rose missed most of the 2015 season, but managed to make it back right before the playoffs. He has not wasted any time, either. He is playing as if he is back in 2011 taking his team to the Eastern conference finals. Don't miss vintage Derrick Rose in this year's first round match up against the Milwaukee Bucks. Jason Kidd became their head coach after his coaching rights were traded from the Nets.
6. John Wall and the Washington Wizards are the fifth seed in the playoffs this year, just like last year. They lost in the first round to Pacers and are playing the Toronto Raptors. Paul Pierce changed history and moved up on the all time playoff scoring list.
