A Single Girl's Guide to Valentine's Day

This holiday won't be as bad as you think.

My least favorite month of the year has arrived. 'Tis the season for the unbearable amount of annoying couple pictures flooding Instagram on a daily basis. We all know you're "in love," and that you're "so happy." Just quit flaunting it in our faces. Valentine's Day is one of the most depressing holidays for anyone who is single. Who says we can't be single and still have fun on Valentine's Day? Who says that Valentine's Day is only for couples? You don't have to sit at home alone this Valentine's Day and mope about how miserable your love life is. I'm here to help make sure all of your exes know you're happy this holiday, that you don't need them in your life, and how to have a fun time being single around the "love season."

1. Treat yourself

Go out and buy yourself some fresh flowers to make a nice new touch to your bedroom. You know you love flowers, and it's time you do something nice for yourself. Grab a dozen roses, daisies, tulips, or sunflowers. You know it's been awhile since the vase in your room has been filled with fresh flowers.

2. Chocolate is always there for you

Buy yourself one of those weird heart shaped chocolate boxes. We all know the chocolate isn't that great, but it's sort of a thing you just do around Valentine's Day. You could even play a game and guess what is inside of each chocolate piece before you eat it- things could get interesting.

3. Give to others

Send your family, friends or grandparents a sweet card telling them how much you love them and how thankful you are for them. Handwritten notes are the best and they will greatly appreciate you taking your time to think about them.

4. Rejoice that you aren't spending money

While Christmas and birthdays are expensive, Valentine's Day seems to be one of the most expensive holidays ever. This holiday, think about how you aren't spending money on some boy, you're spending your money on you- to make you happy. Go you!

5. Take an adventure

Get all your single girlfriends to have a girls' night out. Go to the beach, the mall, a restaurant, go sing karaoke, or just go see a movie. Whenever you're with your girls, you'll forget all about the stupid holiday and enjoy yourself for the night.

6. Host a girls' night in

Okay, so you don't feel like getting dressed up and going out because that means putting on pants. I get it, the struggle is real. So call all your girlfriends to your house, order some pizza and just enjoy a "Netflix and chill" evening with your favorite ladies.

7. Pamper yourself

Go out and treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure. Even splurge for a massage and makeover. You can also get your hair colored. Spoil yourself, because no one else is going to this holiday.

This holiday won't be as bad as you think. Things are gonna be alright. Keep yourself busy all day and distracted from the "love" around you. Pick a few items from the list and enjoy yourself. The overrated love posts shouldn't get to you. Your Prince Charming is out there, and he's gonna find you someday, and spoil you every Valentine's Day. Until he does, you pamper yourself and make yourself happy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
