Everyone has days when they are not feeling like themselves. You may just be hanging out around your house, and suddenly you just get really sad for seemingly no reason at all. Maybe you just need a little pick me up to help you feel more awake. Here are some things that can help you when you are feeling a little down in the dumps or are just looking to relax:

1. Take a hot shower.

You can never go wrong with taking a hot shower when you are feeling blue. Grab your best smelling soap and favorite shampoo and turn on some happy music. You will feel better in no time. (Plus, you get all your best ideas in the shower. Well, at least I do.)

2. Put on your favorite outfit and take yourself on a date.

It is a fact that you automatically feel better when you are dressed in something that makes you feel beautiful. Putting on your favorite clothes and going out is much better than moping around the house! Take yourself to your favorite restaurant or go get your nails done. You will be looking hot and soon you will be feeling hot too!

3. Put in a funny movie.

Watching a hilarious movie that you know will make you smile is bound to cheer you up. You can go on Netflix or even go out to the theatre if a new one just came out. Laughter is the best medicine after all!

4. Call up some friends!

Good friends can definitely brighten up your day. See if any of them want to go for an ice cream or want to go bowling. If you are in the mood to just call someone and rant, I am sure you can find a friend who will listen to your frustrations.

5. Take a walk.

Studies have proven that taking a walk can help you feel better. LISTEN TO SCIENCE! Go to a safe and secure location to take a walk and you will be feeling more relaxed than before!

6. Eat a healthy snack and drink some water.

I know it is tempting to sit there and eat Oreo's and drink soda all day, but that will make you feel even more sluggish. (This one is still hard for me.) Try drinking water and eating some hummus. That is a much healthier option and one that won't come back to haunt you!

7. Read an interesting book.

Delve into another world through a book that captures your imagination. Your brain will be working but in a good way! Hopefully, your negative thoughts will subside as your attention is focused on your book.

Hope this helps!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
