It's the most wonderful time of year again... NHL Playoff Season. Any hockey fan waits anxiously all year for this time to roll around. In honor of the Rangers making the playoffs once again, here are the tell-tale signs that you are a true fan.
1. You know Henrik Lundqvists’ stats and hail to the King (of New York).
Drafted in 2000, 205th overall, Lundqvist has never played for any other NHL franchise. You know he is the only goaltender in NHL history to record 30 wins in each of first seven seasons and has the most shutouts by a goaltender in Madison Square Garden. October to May, sometimes June, you hail to the King of New York for making amazing saves.
2) You love and miss the Carl Hagelin/Mats Zuccarello bromance.
They were the best of friends on and off the ice. We loved to watch them play the game together, and we will always remember the great plays they made as a duo. Although Hagelin was traded after the 2014-2015 season, they are still BFF’s.
3) You agree that the National Anthem should only be sung by John Amirante.
John Amirante, Enough said.
4) You know exactly where Dancing Larry sits in the garden.
“Dancing Larry” aka Larry Goodman has been a Rangers season ticket holder since 1988, and his famous routine began in the late 1990s, when he danced in the aisle between sections 406 and 407. After the MSG renovation, he now dances between sections 223 and 224. The dance usually occurs during the last TV timeout of the third period to get the crowd pumped.
5) You always bleed blue and believe.
Though they have had their ups and downs, you have always believed they were going on to do big things. Although we haven’t seen a Stanley Cup being raised over a Rangers captain since '94 we will not give up on our boys in blue.
And we can't wait to see what they'll do next.
Hockey may just be the best sport around, and to some the Rangers are the best team around as well. Here's to our boys in blue and we take on the journey for another Stanley Cup!
