I'm the oldest of five kids, four of them being boys. All of them play soccer. My dad works full time and my mom is a substitute teacher. In the fall I work a part-time job and am a full-time college student - but when summer hits, I'm a part time soccer mom. I do pick up, drop off, and volunteer on Wednesday nights to sign people in for pick up at the high school. I've been trained by the best of the best in the Tri-County area and I have no shame. I have impeccable time management skills, I'm great at adult conversation, and I always come prepared with snacks. Here's a few signs that you're also a part-time soccer mom:
1. You know they're going to hate you for waking them up.
Yes, you're screaming at me because I got up early to wake YOU up for YOUR practice. Summer sessions are brutal.
2. You know that having Frebreze in the car is an essential.
Shin guards smell. Cleats smell. Socks smell. Body odor is outrageous. Just spray and leave the windows down or you will suffocate, and you will die.
3. You double check that they have BOTH of their cleats.
Long live the start of WWIII when one of them forgot them. RIP to my Dad's sanity.
4. You save the day with your backup items.
Someone doesn't have the right shorts for a game? No biggie, I have 3 different colors in my trunk.
5. You know you have to feed them directly after practice or they will shrivel up and die.
"KAYLA PLEASE FEED ME I HAVEN'T EATEN SINCE 6!!" Stephen, it's 8..
6. Every actual soccer mom knows you and everything about you.
"I heard you think their Coach is soooo hot. ... You know he's single now?" God. Help. Me.
7. You know exactly where everyone on the team lives because you've taken them home so many times.
My car is forever full and it looks a little something like this. ^^^
8. After dropping them off at practice your free time consists of going to Target.
Don't judge me, it's quiet and there is air conditioning.
9. You know that practice never ends on time.
Never. Ever. Ever.
10. You love every second of it because it involves spending time with your favorite tiny humans.
Even though you smell and you scream at me when I force you to go to practice, you're my favorites. I wouldn't change those car rides and jam sessions for anything.
