He's Been My Boyfriend For 2 Years And Yep, I Still Make Him Text Me First

Is it petty? Maybe. Is it unreasonable? I don't think so.

The first rules that I learned when it comes to texting boys are as follows:

1. "Heyy (:" is always more flirtatious than "hey"

2. Always wait longer to respond than he did.

And 3. NEVER text him first.

Little did I know when I was beginning to text in middle school that rule number three would stick with me for life. It was with me when I had my first boyfriend at age 14, and all the way through my first real and serious relationship.

When it comes to flirting and the very first stages of getting to know the guy, I always expect for him to be the one to send the first text. Even when I'm in a serious and committed relationship, I don't text him first unless it's necessary given the circumstance.

Is it petty? Maybe. Is it unreasonable? I don't think so.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I've always loved when a guy makes the first move. I don't think that it's impossible for girls to make a move, but I find something incredibly romantic about a boy going out of his way to impress a girl first.

At the beginning of a relationship, I think that it's fair to say that most girls want a classic "Good morning, beautiful" or "Sweet dreams, gorgeous" text and they definitely expect the boy to send it first.

But why does it have to change? Even two years into a relationship, I still get butterflies in the morning when I have a cute text to wake up to. And that's how it should be. He should always text me first.

I don't ever want to get comfortable enough to where he stops going out of his way to impress me. Even if it's just the little things like sending a text for when I wake up and one before he goes to bed, I don't find it petty or unreasonable to expect it from him.

I never want my honeymoon phase of the relationship to end. I want every date to continue to feel like the first (minus the whole awkward part). I want him to continue to text me first just because he's thinking of me and just because he wants to flirt a little.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
