Ah, good 'ol AT&T park. Home of the San Francisco Giants, the best team to ever grace the baseball world. The eight-time (!!!) World Series winning team has called AT&T Park home since 2000. I've been to the famed ballpark no less than a gazillion times, and consider myself fairly ~in the know~ as far as sports goes. Here's why NorCal's favorite team has the best ballpark in baseball.
1. It's a huge upgrade from Candlestick Park
The Giants played at The 'Stick from 1960-1999, until AT&T Park was finished with construction. Candlestick was ... well, old, and the new stadium gave the Giants the new and fancy ballpark they deserved.
2. Its accessibility
Can going to a Giants game BE any easier? AT&T is right off of Highway 80 once you cross the Bay Bridge. Plus, it's a short walk from the CalTrain and BART. Arriving at most games is easy-peasy.
3. The Coke slide
This unmistakable attraction consists of two 56-foot-long curving slides (the "Guzzler") and two 20-foot-long twisting slides (the "Twist-Off"). It's mainly for younger kids, but part of me still yearns to try it every time I walk by.
4. The food
As is with any baseball game, fans can enjoy the typical hot dog meal. However, AT&T Park is special because it features vendors that are local to the San Francisco area. Vendors like Ghiradelli make for a sweet and tasty mid-game treat.
5. Great seats
I've sat almost everywhere in AT&T Park — from seats behind home plate, club level, outfield, third deck ... I've seen it all. To be honest, the first time I sat up on third deck I wasn't too thrilled, but we ended up having awesome seats and enjoying the game. I have yet to sit in a bad seat — something that says a lot for a ballpark.
6. It's home to an incredible team
Coming from Northern California, I may be a bit biased, but I think that it's awesome that AT&T Park is home to such a great team. During my lifetime, it's been a true joy to watch the Giants win even-year'ed World Series titles in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Awesome team, awesome environment -- what could be better?
