A good portion of the population would probably say they dislike cardio and running in general. That is a totally normal response. Now, if someone were to say they quite enjoyed running, suddenly that would be a crazy and unexpected thing to hear. I happen to be one of those people who enjoy running. Now, I don't just enjoy running because I like to run, but there are several reasons as to why I like this sort of exercise.

First of all, I enjoy running when I am grumpy or simply have a lot on my mind. When I am particularly grumpy, unfortunately I usually stay grumpy for the rest of the day. Running, for some reason, relieves myself of all that built up frustration causing me to be grumpy; thus making me a happier and more pleasant person after I finish my run. When I have a lot on my mind, running can be a great way to take your mind off of whatever it is. Being focused on breathing and watching where you're running will certainly be a great distraction. Running can also be a great way to sort out whatever is on your mind. Running doesn't always have to be focused. It's easy to get lost in your mind while being in the zone.

Second, I like running because its something for me to do other than homework. I do have other hobbies, like guitar and hanging with friends, but running is a great way to take a short break from all the craziness of school. Not to mention it relieves stress, as I said in point number one.

Third, its healthy for you! I enjoy being active and making sure I exercise often. This is a sure way to burn off some calories. I also wear a Fitbit device and have a goal of at least 10,000 steps a day. This is a great way to get a bunch of those much needed steps in. You can also get connected and have competitions with friends to see who can get more steps in a day. It can be very fun!

Although not many people like to go for runs, I encourage you to get out there and at least go for a walk every night before bed. Going for walks can also be a great stress reliever, be something to occupy your time, and help keep you fit.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
