Things Only Roommates Understand

Living with roommates is one of the best parts of college. It ensures that you are never lonely, always have someone to make you laugh, and can easily find cute clothes to borrow. Your roommates get to see every side of you and still love you when you're at your worst. They will drink to your successes (and failures), but most of all, will be friends you will cherish forever. Here are a few things only the people you live with can understand.

When you're having a bad day.

Sometimes, all it takes is just one look for your roommates to see that you are having a miserable day. Maybe you failed your Orgo test, maybe the boy you like is being mean to you, or maybe you're just PMSing. No matter the reason, roommates will always know when you're upset, and will take it upon themselves to make you feel better. They will greet you at the door when you come home with a bottle of wine and a jar of Nutella because they are the only ones that know and understand that will make it better.

When you're stressed.

Your roommates know your entire schedule, so they prepare for when you have busy weeks filled with exams, work, meetings, and extracurricular involvement. Roommates have a way of sensing your stress level, and consciously make an effort to lessen your load in any way they can. They take extra care to clean the apartment and offer to deliver you food to the library when you're pulling an all-nighter and don't have time to eat.

When you're hungry.

Since you live together, your roommates and your stomachs will usually be on the same schedule, which means you will always have a friend who is hungry at the same time as you. Roommates will either help you attempt to make BuzzFeed recipes (and usually fail) or go binge eat sushi with you. Whatever the situation may be, you can always count on your roommates to know when you're hungry and to go with you to remedy that.

When you're drunk.

Your roommates know better than anyone else when you've been drinking and even know your stages of drunk. You can count on them to drag you out of a bar and throw you into an Uber when they know you've had a few too many. They also will be the first ones to come up to you when you're feelin yourself and kill the dance floor with you. They'll hold your hair, buy you pizza, and pick you up no matter what time it is because they are always there for you.

Your roommates are technically stuck with you, because they are constantly in close proximity to you. However, it's so much more than that. Having roommates is the best thing that can happen to you because it gives you a home away from home with people who have you best interest at heart, make you laugh, pick you up when you're sad, and always are down for a good time. I wouldn't trade having roommates for anything in the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
