A Thank You Letter To My Roommate
Alex Sobczak

Thank you for putting up with my light being on at all hours of the night while I’m reading and you’re trying to sleep.

Most people would probably kick me out. Or move. So, thanks, dude.

Thank you for reminding me to set my alarm and for motivating me to not skip my early class.

You’ve saved me so many times.

Thank you for going to get dinner with me, like, everyday.

Walking in the snow to a dining hall is less awful with a buddy. Or maybe we'll just order a pizza for delivery...

Thank you for splitting the chores with me.

When I wake up from a nap and our room is clean, it’s honestly the best feeling.

Thank you for the fun nights out.

You’re my go-to for whatever plans I’m making and I love spending time with you, especially outside of our room.

Thank you for not getting too mad at me when I make food for us and I spill it all over our room.

I’m not sure how to explain this one, but the “I’m sorry, but there’s popcorn and uncooked soup noodles all over our room” texts pretty much do the explaining for me. I’m clumsy; it happens.

Thank you for liking the same music I do.

It makes our dance parties more fun that way. (Dumb dance moves required).

Thank you for taking time to listen to my problems that other people would just dismiss me as crazy for.

You give really, really good advice, and I really appreciate it.

Thank you for making me cry of laughter at 1:30 in the morning.

Because what else would I be doing?

As a follow up, thank you for not forcing conversation in the morning when we’re both dead tired waking up for our early classes.

Sometimes, silence is the best noise. Especially early in the morning.

Overall, thank you for being such an amazing roommate.

You’re fun, understanding, and my best friend. I'm so glad we live together.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
