The last couple weeks of school are here, and the stress is ever increasing. Everyone is worried about grades, deadlines, studying and it doesn't feel at all like Christmas is coming. I don't know how you guys are handling this all but I do know that I need a few reminders with finals coming up and maybe you guys to do, so here are some important things to remember this week!
Go to the gym.
Just even a couple times. Do something that pushes you physically instead of mentally. Do something that gets your blood pumping. Keep yourself healthy and feeling good.
Do Yoga.
Yoga is so good for clearing your mind for a little while. Focus on stretching your body rather than your mind. Shift your focus for an hour and head to a Yoga class. Your muscles will also thank you, they need a good stretch as you'll be sitting around all day studying. And drag a friend along and do partner yoga. You'll laugh until your stomach hurts.
Pet some dogs.
Or cats, or any animal really. Animals definitely help to reduce our stress, and a lot of colleges will have therapy dogs wandering around campus during finals week just waiting to find some college students who need a cuddle.
Eat well.
I know, after studying all day you just want to go home and eat an entire container of ice cream. It is important to watch your diet though during finals week so you will feel and perform your best. Eat regularly spaced (and healthy) meals throughout the day to keep your energy up. It's okay to treat yourself a little bit, but keep track of how much, and try not to go overboard.
Sleep.
You won't do well on your finals if you spend all day the night before studying. Maybe eight hours a night isn't feasible with all the deadlines you have coming up, but try to get at least seven if you have an exam the next day. Remember, you can't study productively if you can't keep your eyes open.
Make schedules and to do lists.
Sometimes I don't even feel like I have a spare second to organize my work, but trust me, you'll feel much better when you have a list of the things you need to do, and especially when you can start checking off tasks.
Breathe.
Yeah okay I know it kind of feels like you're drowning but I promise there is still air around you. Take a deep breathe, focus, and believe that you can do your best and that your best is good enough.
