Let's face it - guys are so much cooler than us girls.

My best friend is a guy named Eric.

We've been friends since my freshman year of high school. Yes, we do everything together. No, we are not dating. He has other friends that are girls and I have other friends that are guys. We are both single at the moment, but promise to never break friendship even when we enter a romantic relationship with someone else. I truly believe that every girl needs a guy best friend, and every guy needs a girl best friend.

I can't speak from a guy's point of view, but I can obviously share my thoughts as to why I am so glad my best friend is a guy:

1. You don't have to deal with girl drama

Guys could care less about who said what to who and when.

2. They're overprotective

Having a guy best friend is like having your own personal bodyguard! No one will ever mess with you!

3. They don't sugarcoat anything

Are you on your period? Cause girl, you're overly hormonal right now...

4. They'll always be honest with you

You'll always know when you did something wrong and they'll also make an effort to tell you when it looks like you were run over by a truck.

5. They can make other boys jealous

Hehehehe

6. They're easy to make plans with

Guys don't keep track of time and don't plan ahead, so a spontaneous trip to New York City in an hour will totally work out!

7. They'll love you unconditionally

It doesn't matter how annoying or needy you are. They don't care when you make mistakes. They'll always be there with open arms.

8. They're trustworthy

Because they don't do drama, they don't feel the need to gossip. Therefore, you can pour out your deepest darkest secrets to them and it'll go to their grave.

9. They'll always be your biggest fan

Guys love to make girls feel special, and they love to be supportive. Guys are the ones in the audience screaming and cheering you on! They'll never miss a game, a performance, or a show. They're your own personal cheerleader!

10. They're always there to give you a shoulder to cry on

Everyone thinks that guys are always serious all of the time, but guys are actually the first ones there to comfort. They will change their plans for the day just to make sure you're okay.

11. Everyone needs a big old bear hug

Girl hugs are nothing compared to guys'...I mean, girls won't pick you up and swing you around! Nothing beats that wrap around, tight-squeeze hug guys offer. Not to mention the fact that they're taller than you makes it all the more better.

12. They can easily make you laugh

They don't even have to try, sometimes all they have to do is bring up an inside joke and you'll be hysterical in .31 seconds

13. You get used to all of the gross things boys talk about

In fact, you talk about those things with them! They don't find your bodily functions a disgusting subject matter.

14. They're not afraid to compliment you

"You think I'm beautiful?"

15. They're willing to do everything your girls don't have the guts to do

Wanna go skydiving?? Cliff jumping?? Let's take a journey to the end of the Earth.

16. You'll never go hungry

You know you're always welcome to steal food out of his fridge without even asking- his house is yours, too!

Most importantly,

17. You can release your inner weirdness

You wanna dress up like a turkey and dance around your kitchen? Go for it! Feel free to be yourself, have fun, and live a little, because guys enjoy those things!

*Many thanks to Eric for putting up with my quirkiness and accepting me for me! I love you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
