Being home for Christmas Break means that you will inevitably be asked the most daunting question of all: Are you dating anyone?

For all the singles out there, this is possibly one of the most annoying questions that any relative will ask. It is especially hard when it’s the holidays and it seems like everyone is in love or dating someone or getting engaged.

However, being single during the holidays is not all that bad. Aside from inevitably having to tell your whole family that you are still single, there are a few perks to not being tied down. So, in the spirit of the season, here are 7 reasons why being single during the holidays is actually not that bad.

1. You can eat all the food and not care what anyone thinks

No one will judge you when you go back for seconds, thirds or, maybe even fourths. It doesn’t matter if you had to wear your extra stretchy pants for all the holiday meals. You do you.

2. You don’t have to worry about traveling during the holidays.

The holiday season is big on people traveling to see their families and many go and visit their boyfriends or girlfriends. Without having a significant other, you can save yourself the stress and money that come along with visiting someone.

3. You have more time to spend with friends that you may have lost touch with.

The holidays are the best time to catch up with friends that you may not see a lot during the school year or just have fallen out of touch with. With more time for yourself, it’s easier to catch up with old friends.

4. No one will make you feel bad if you sleep 12 hours a day.

Who cares if you stay in bed for the majority of the day. Sleep all you want and watch as must Netflix as you can handle.

5. There is no need for cute clothes.

It does not matter if you spend most of the day in pajamas or t-shirts. Such activities as Netflix and eating don’t require anything but your pajamas.

6. There's no stress over trying to find the perfect gift.

This means that you have more money to spend on yourself during the holidays and maybe buy that something you've secretly been wanting for forever.

7. You can actually, maybe, spend some quality time with your family.

The holidays are a time to spend with your family, and when you are single, you have more time to do it. You don’t have to worry about trying to see a significant other’s family. You can dedicate more time to your own family and do all the fun, embarrassing family holiday traditions.

While sure there are numerous perks to being in a relationship and being single is sometimes hard during the holidays, there is no need to fret over it. Rather, enjoy the time you have with your family or your tv or really however you want and make the most of the four weeks spent back home.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
